desperate help with 1.4 A2 needed !!!!

HI Guys, usualy on Wedge forum but my mate is having large trouble with his A2. It is chugging/missing not revving at about 3000rpm. Its getting to be rather dangerous in traffic now. Been thru the usual stuff but to no avale. What is involved in taikng the throttle body off ? Is it by cable or fly by wire ?
Or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys...thanks UG
