Mk 4 Golf Gti - security question

I have just bought a Mk4 GTi TDi Anniversary and have a quick question which I dont seem to be able to answer 100% with google/the manual. Does it have a factory fit immobiliser? I assumed it did (one of the passive, in-the-key ones) but now am not so sure.

Surely a car of this age would have one? BMWs have had them for years?

Yes, and the alarm is thatcham 1.

Phew... Good news! I told the insurance it has a factory fit immobiliser, but couldnt find reference to one anywhere.

See here, pretty useful, type the make/model in and it gives you the insurance group and whether the factory security was thatcham 1/2 or not:
