not really done any research, but someone told me semi-synthetic but not sure of grade?

is it not possible to use fully synthetic?

also, after a good run my engine starts to sound a bit unhappy, as if the oil its running is degrading when hot? when fully cooled down (ie oil thickened up) it sounds fine again smooth & no noise

could this be because it may have the incorrect oil in??

any help appreciated

I stick with VW Synta silver 10W40 in both my 2.8 & 2.9 VR6s. My Corrado has run on this since new and still dyno's well with no oil burn at 172k miles. I'd reckon 0W Mobil would be too thin to use in a VR TBH.

Just change it often!

Fuchs XTR in mine; again no oil burn, although I'm at 91.5k. Same deal as the Synta from what I can make out. Can't remember the exact grade, will check the bottle later.

I am a touch sceptical when it comes to oils. The handbook tells you the grades and ratings you need to put in. As long as it matches these and you change it regularly then that's all that counts? It has to be better than buying £60+ Carlos Fandango oil then leaving it in for ages...
