On most normal engines if you disconect a radiator hose etc you would normally need to both top up the coolant and bleed the system. I have been faffing about with my Golf and discovered that there is no mention of a bleed screw/valve any were in the Haynes manual and I'm a little puzzled? Surely the system won't self bleed?

Any advice chaps?

Once refilled put the heater on full blast and leave the expansion tank cap off. Keep squeezing the bottom hose until the level in the tank settles, the heater blows hot and no bubbles emerge.

Takes about 5 minutes.
