Hi

I have had my car about a week now and love it already but there is a bit of a drone from the exhaust when in 6th at about 60 which I recall reading about as an annoyance. Does the Milltek back box fix this? Also anybody chipped there car and is it worth it?

Any suggestions in upgrading the i.c.e. I was thinking of Alpine all round but any other options? It has to have ipod connectivity.

Any help appreciated.

As I understand it, the Miltek backbox actually makes the droning even worse! The guys here will be able to offer some proper advice.

I had a Miltek fitted to my R32, but I thought it sounded better with the original exhaust.

Apart from the sound did you notice a performance increase?

hello pal log on to TSN.COM there are full questions and answers to prob all your questions about the mk 4 r32,
its normal for the standard exhaust to make the noise they all do its the flapper valve that opens to keep the noise of the exhaust down after 60mph or 3000rpm.fitting a miltek which will
increase the noise if its a non resonated system or make it a little quiter if its the resonted system price 480 ish and
a few more BHP and better throttle response.chipping ring the guys at awsome gti they seem very well clued up on the car.hope this helps

It's the other way around with the flapper valve - it stays closed below 3000 rpm to make the car quieter at legal speeds in higher gears and at tickover.

My MK IV R32 has a Milltek cat back resonated exhaust system, air induction kit, Haldex HPP controller and Tarox front discs with Pagid pads.

The Milltek reduces a lot of the boom at about 2000 rpm but not all of it. It is irritating sometimes because that's the rpm for 30 mph in 4th gear and 70 mph in 6th gear.

The solution? A different speed in those gears (ahem) or higher revs in a lower gear hehe

A non-resonated (no middle box!) system is really loud and not recommended if you ain't a noise freak.

"Chipping" or remapping is of limited use - naturally aspirated engines are hard to squeeze more horses out of without forced induction. Expect 5-10 hp from a cat back Milltek, another 10 hp from an air induction kit and about the same again from a remap.

My advice is to get used to it as it is for a while, then sign up on www.tyresmoke.net for better info on R32 matters. It has a dedicated R32 forum. I post there under the same username.
