A4 TDi Auto Gear box problem!

TDi Sport Auto 04 59,000 miles FSH Gear box is erratic on gear change, changing to low gears at speed?Dash lights flashing PRND etc Returns
intermittently?Been told this is a common fault?And AUDI are aware of it?
Any one know of it?,Have AUDI been covering cars just out of warranty?
Been told it could be in the £1000,s..?? to repair!

Sounds more like an electronic problem than gearbox, but those CVT can be troublesome and very expensive to fix.

In my experience, Audi will consider paying some or all of the cost if the auto gearbox develops a fault after the warranty has expired, as long as it is has been serviced correctly.

We had a prioblem with an A4 2.5tdi Tip. Basically the same as above and they wanted to replace the whole box at a cost of £4000+ ( out of warranty too )
Basically the car was only worth £10000 so we took it to another Audi dealer who repaired the box for around £1000.
