Anybody on here had there 1.9tdi remapped? My wife's new company car is 99% likely to be an A3 1.9tdi sportback, was hoping for the 2.0 but the company scheme is a bit crap, so will get it remapped to around 130-140bhp, anyone have any views on thies engine once remapped?

My 1.9TDi is the manufacturer 130PS version anyway - it may be worth checking which engine tune you're getting. I'd expect 130-140bhp would be easy for an aftermarket chipping.

i think the 1.9 pd fitted in the new A3's is the 115bhp versions (someone please correct me if i'm wrong), the 2.0 came with 140 or 170bhp IIRC

i had my old shape A3 derv custom mapped (that was the 130 pd version) and that made a hell of a difference, much more responsive and even better economy if you drove in a legal fashion.

She ordered her car today and it's the crappy 105bhp, i'm amazed Audi sell something that is still so woefully below what the competition can offer to be honest, will be paying a visit to DMS as soon as she has it, i'm told 140bhp is what it will remap too which should make it a fair bit better

There is a market out there for 'I want a diesel A3 and to hell with anything else' that the little 1.9 is there to satisfy.

I picked up my A3 1.9tdi today biggrin and would seriously consider getting it re-mapped if it's worth it. Already happy with its performance for a diesel but if I can squeeze a bit more out of it then even better.

so is this good as in peformance and figures wise? Is it going to go considerably faster or just have a slight improvement?

Have a look at their website, each upgrade has a graph showing where the power gain is to be had. With the 1.9 it is mainly between 2000 and 3500 where it makes a difference. Below 2000rpm the power and torque curves are the same as without the upgrade.

For £499 including fitting and VAT it seems like a reasonably affordable way of getting a bit more power without sacrificing day to day reliability. I'm planning on doing it for my A6 within the next few months.

Have a look at www.vwaudiforum.co.uk - there is a ton of technical information and expertise. Plus there are supporting companies who do discounted re-mapping sessions on a regular basis.

I am just waiting for the next event and will be getting my Bora done.

For god's sake don't go to Superchips. There are plenty of better places to go.

Jabbasport/AMD etc etc....

Thanks for the tip, Jabbasport can get better performance for less cost and they're not too far from me either!

Jabba's predicted figures & rollers are "optimistic" to say the least, i had mine done at superchips hq just outside of oxford and i can't recommend them enough, I ended up with a tweaked generic map which suited my car and what i wanted from it.

Have a look on audi-sport.net as well, Other A3 derv owners may well be able to suggest alternative companies that do a good job, failing that, there is a site sponsor section at the bottom of all the foruims and there is usually one or two places that'll do you a deal on a remap.

CHIPPED-UK did my 115 pd tdi, ok so it's in a bora but it's largely the same. mine was rr'd at (or so i was told) 140 bhp and 345nm torque. as opposed to 115 bhp and 280nm torque as standard. makes the car much more driveable in comparison to the stanrd 115's that i also test drove.

it's also quicker than a friends PD130 tdi'd golf hatch.

"Or so you were told". Are you saying you didnt witness the RR session? Did you get a print-out of the results before and after the RR session?

I bought the car already mapped.

I was told it's got the 140 bhp map. (if you drive my car and compare it to another 115, you'll definitely see the difference!) I can't guarantee it's power but my god it's a shedload better than a standard one!
