Hi,

After some advise from the SEAT gang on the Toledo.

Looking at a 2004 Toledo 1.9TDi SE to replace my current Citroen C5. Is the 130bhp model better to go for than the 110bhp model?

Car I'm looking at is an '04 130bhp model at £6,795.

Anything to look out for, I'm led to believe these cars are pretty reliable.

Thanks
Iain

I'd go for the 130 - when can more power be bad? biggrin

Things to watch out for:
- Dashboard creaks/rattles - they'll never go away!
- Water leaks through door seals
- Water getting into cabin through air-con filter
- Check correct oil has been used - should meet VAG "501" spec IIRC
- If it has climate control, check the various bits of the LCD screen work (can be a bit temperamental)

Should be pretty reliable - there are millions of these engines propelling VWs, Audis, SEATs and Skodas all over Europe.

I had a 110 until last week (wrote it off frown). I decided it was adequate as an everyday car, virtually everything feels slow after the Fury. I'm moving to Exeter later in the year and will be getting rid of the kit car, so have decided to replace it with a 130. I test drove a 130 yesterday, the differences can be summarised:
  • 110 has lots more torque below 1500rpm
  • 130 is much faster from 1500-redline
  • 130 is quieter
  • 6th gear on 130 gives ~1950rpm at 70mph, compared to ~2350rpm in 5th in the 110
  • 6th isn't really useable below 60mph
In addition to the kit on the 2003 110 I had before, the 2004 130 I've put a deposit on has:
  • electro-chromatic rear view mirror (option?)
  • passenger seat height adjustment
  • horrible white dials
  • no drivers armrest (option? this got in the way of the handbrake anyway)

Finally took the plunge and am now the owner of a 2003 Toledo 110 TDi SE with 34k miles on the clock. Got it for a shade over 5 grand with 6 months tax and a year's warranty.

Decided to go for the 110 rather than the 130 purely due to costs - Diesel, insurance, tax etc..

Good call, theres a point when I have been regretting replacing my crashed 110 with a 130 because it is averaging 47mpg instead of 54. I think on balance I prefer the 130 though tongue out
