Hi,
I will be picking my new car tomorrow and looking to get an 80K mile service done more or less as soon as possible. Can anyone confirm a Audi/VW specialist in the south London/Surrey area?
I have found Wheelbase... http://www.wheelbase.uk.com/index.asp has anyone had any experience of these guys?

Any info would be great! I have got a few quotes from Audi dealers of which Epsom Audi appears to be the cheapest £420 for the 80k service, £120 for the Haldex oil and filter and £75 for break fluid.

Cheers

By 80k service do you mean a longlife or is the cam belt due as well? 5 years or 80k on these. Quotes you've had for the service actually sound pretty competitive.

Cheers for your response. Nope, the cam belt and water pump was done recently by an independant by the previous owner.
By the sounds of it as you say quote doesnt really sound that bad but I may get a quote from Wheelbase (the indy not to far from me) and see what they say....

Has anyone had an experience from Wheelbase? http://www.wheelbase.uk.com/directionsbyroad.asp

Hi,

I've used Wheelbase for a number of services now, incuding cam belt (51 plate Passat TDI PD 130). I've not had any problems with them. Always found them easy to deal with, friendly and helpful.

I think their prices are competetive, but probably not dirt cheap - but they seem to know their VWs & Audis

They can supply a courtesy car if needed or a left to Walton / Hersham Station.
I will be continuing to use them.

Hope this helps
Marc

Havent used wheelbase, however Ben RichBVRS and I all use APS in Brackley, a little travel but seems to be worth it!

are you looking to get a stamp, if so I found oxford Audi to be prohibitively expensive, and Aylesbury and Banbury Audi to be over £100 cheaper on the basic service!!

I paid Coventry Audi £530ish all in for the major service and haldex a year ago.

Also for brake fluid consider getting ATE Blue if your going to be pushing the car hard.

And Try the dealership and serviceing section on (sorry PH) audi-sport.net
Hope that helps

Dave

http://audilinks.co.uk/finda/dealers.

Try Dean at 4rings Audi. Knows his stuff, Audi specialist and is mobile.

I've used him and through he was proffesional and knew his stuff - plan to use him for as long as we keep the A6. Do a search on Pistonheads - I'm sure he has been discussed before.

Cheers,
Matt

I've used Fontain and would happily recommend them for routine services, I've also used APS / AmD (or Fontain) for all the major work (Engine, Cambelt major suspension bits) on my car for over the last 2 years / 60,000 miles.

I've heard some good things about wheelbase but haven't used them myself.

I'd second that, I use him to look after my S4 and my S3 before that, (he was the workshop co ordinator at my local stealer when I first met him) the man is a star, charges a fraction of the cost of a main stealer, does a superb job and warranty remains in place. I recently had an odd knocking noise that was intermitant when cornering hard that he traced but needed a part replacing under warranty, went to main dealer gave the Master Tech' the diagnosis and who had made it, he shrugged and said "if Dean said that, it's good enough for me we'll just replace it without trying to find it"
