Surely taking your hand off the wheel in that situation would be a really bad idea?

Maybe if you're only one handed, tongue out But yeah, both hands on the wheel would probably be advisable... I'm not sure how it works, saw it in the manual once whilst flicking through... Was bored halfway into a 14hr cruise through France, haven't got the car here to check it at the moment...

The auto-hold, asaik, is when the handbrake is auto-applied when the car stops, similar to what our 7 series does.

Providing that the door is shut, and seatbelt on, the h/brake will disengage when the biting point is met when the car is in gear.

Simple really ...
