Aftermarket stereo in '01 A6?

Trying to fit an Alpine IDA-X100 into the A6 Avant.
Called into a local ICE dealer, and they checked which harness cables are required, walked away happy.
Just tried to connect it all up and no life at all ....
There's just one plug that wasn't connected and has no obvious equivalent in the Alpine. It was connected to the central back of the standard Audi CD player, its an orange cable, and looks a little like a fiber-optic cable. Is this a can-bus connector for the dashboard display?
