A colleague of mine got wind of my car being remapped, and has now decided he want his *cough* Tiguan doing too. It is the 2.0 140bhp common rail diesel engine.

However, unlike my car, his warranty is intact as the car is less than a year old and with only 20K on the clock. Needless to say, he wants a map that won't affect his warranty.

Does anyone know of any remaps that are supplied by VW dealers, or through VW dealers, which would not affect the warranty? I am aware that some Audi and Skoda dealers are able to offer this.

He is based in North Lincolnshire and would need somewhere nearby.

Cheers.

Which? I know quite a few people that would be interested in this.

Not sure about Audi - I just remember reading about it on another forum, and the dealer was miles away so the name didn't stick in my mind.

As far as Skoda is concerned, a lad I know bought a VRS from a Mansfield dealer, which came with Revo map. They said they would stand by the warranty, and they have.

Have you tried asking the VW dealer?

One of the Northants Audi dealers (Wayside) has an ex-AMD tech working there & they remapped a mate's A6 2.0 TDI 140 up to 195ish bhp AND were prepared to honour the manufacturer's warranty.

I know Aston Green in Slough used to many years ago - they were re-mapping the old 2.7 bi-turbo S4 etc. but stopped it as they were having to replace quite a few turbos and I think they were having to pay for it themselves (i.e. not Audi).

No, it's a colleague's car. He has asked 1 main dealer, who said no. He phoned this morning to say he had spoken to Revo but apart from a couple of Revo/Skoda dealers, there aren't any Revo/VW dealers.

I suspect he will get bored of it and give up in the end.

If you want to enhance you car from the way it came out of the factory ,why not uprate and buy a newer more powerful car I.E. mk4 19tdi to a mk5 tdi etc etc......

that way everyone will be happy including the insurance company.

(anyway thats what my dad would of said)

I haven't heard of VW doing a remap but Audi dealerships offer it as an option on the new S3 I believe ???

If I were him I would go down the route of a bluefin from superchips remap, that way he can upload the map himself with the handheld terminal and return to standard when going back to the stealer.

Rightly or wrongly, the lad paid around £20K+ for a new car not too long ago. Understandably, he doesn't want to lose thousands on it/its replacement when all he is after is a bit more driveability for £250-500 quid.
