Where/from whom did you buy VCDS?
I got it from Gendan http://www.gendan.co.uk/ who are official dealers for Ross-Tech (the manufacturer). There are cheaper copies around but AFAIK they don't work properly or for long plus the support from Ross-Tech is very helpful and only available if you buy the pukka version.

Carista was a one-off payment when I bought it (£13.20) and that doesn't seem to expire. I had no idea they'd switched to a subscription model.

It works fine with my B8.5 but I've really done very little with it. You can use it to enable the "green menu" which means you can then do a fair amount of fettling directly with the MMI.
I could be confusing it here with something else? but when I tried there were only a few options, everything else entailed logging on to pay for a 'pass' whether weekly, monthly or yearly I don't recall but I could be bothered for what it could give. About the only thing it gave me was to see how many launch controls had been performed. hehe

I did manage to diagnose a dodgy spark plug and intake sensor on my Son's Clio with it though but there is so much more to be done with VCDS (on Audi/VW etc.) that Carista doesn't offer that makes it no contest IMO.

Hi all,

I have an iPhone 5S and would like to listen to podcasts when in the car, I have the full nav/3G/tel prep etc but I guess bluetooth is out as doesn't seem to be listed as a source. Do I just need to use the AMI cable which are about £20, then it will give me the option to choose that as a source, then I just set the podcast to play on the phone and it will come out of the car speakers?

Thanks
Dan

Yes, or you can go for the Tune2Air option

Ace, thanks. Does anyone have the exact part number please for the AMI cable? I have a 59 plate with the full nav/3G/B&O system, dvd, plus changer in the glovebox etc.

Afternoon all, just picked up a Volcano Red (read a lovely burnt orange) 2013 B8.5 Avant Black Edition.

No trick sport diff, but otherwise an almost ideal spec for me.

First question - I'm considering using Carista to adjust some settings in the MMI back end. Has anyone used this before?

Thanks!
Have a look at OBDELEVEN, it does the same and much much more (it's pretty much a VCDS for mobile phones)

I've just bought a Viseeo wma300a on the back of this thread but I can't get the thing to work.

Before I go back to where I bought it, can anyone let me know what they do in order to get Spotify working from their iPhone? At the moment it just says 'Loading' - or possibly 'Searching' (I'm not with the car so can't remember).

Spotify thinks it's connected to the bluetooth module ok, I just cant get the music to come out! MM! is HNav_EU_P0029_D1 is that's of any use

That’s very old firmware (2009?) so it’s possible it’s that. Not sure the car/phone can cope with 2 connections via Bluetooth so if you’ve got the phone paired with the car maybe try disabling Bluetooth in MMI and try again?

MRC still offer a discount if 2 cars are booked in on the same day for a Stage 2 remap.

Seriously considering getting mine done - is anyone else interested?

Discs and pads needed for the front on my S5....
Europarts Brembo option with Ferrodo pads seem to be around £160.

Any reason not to fit them?

I'd love to but my clutch is on its last legs so that would no doubt kill it off. If/when the clutch gets replaced I could be interested, money depending!

Seemed a minefield when I was looking for discs/pads, people saying they won't be made to the high spec of the original parts etc. I ended up just going with genuine Audi discs/pads, was about £350 fitted.

I'm sure the clutch will be fine Dan.... hehe

If anyone is unsure, I'll just leave this here... smile

I'd go with the Brembo/Ferrodo, it's not like they're new to making brake parts!

Yep, looks like discs are 60 each and pads around 90 a pair

Euro car parts have 35% off this weekend, so having got everything for 135 quid, I can’t justify 350 quid for Audi parts.

Look at car parts for less, its the online version of Euro car parts. I got Brembo discs and ceramic pads from them
