Anyone can recommend a good specialist for undertaking work on these in the West Midlands / Warwickshire are?
We are talking major as in cam chains + tensioners and followers. Engine out job. More importantly I am looking for someone who like working on these not just tuning them.
Let me know. Cheers

Anyone know a decent source for updating the MMI? I think my nav and software haven’t been updated since new and I’m hoping an update will fix some of the glitches I’ve been having recently.
Do any of the eBay discs actually work?
I updated the maps/MMI on mine last year, got the update from 'vagnav' https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/vagnav?_trksid=p2047675... on ebay. Do any of the eBay discs actually work?
Geniune Audi software, supplied on SD cards, time consuming but fairly straightforward to do and when I had questions he was very helpful - so highly recommended by me.

Maybe slightly further than you'd like but I've had good service from Quattro Tech in Peterborough. We are talking major as in cam chains + tensioners and followers. Engine out job. More importantly I am looking for someone who like working on these not just tuning them.

Depends where you're based - if South of London, I can assist. Also depends whether the issues you're having in terms of glitches are firmware related or not - more likely to be a dodgy module, but can VCDS scan to checkDo any of the eBay discs actually work?

Thanks, that’s what I was looking for, will get in touch with them. That said, I just went to check what version I currently have showing and it’s come back as ‘Null’ which doesn’t sound right - will have to investigate furtherGeniune Audi software, supplied on SD cards, time consuming but fairly straightforward to do and when I had questions he was very helpful - so highly recommended by me.

Nothing especially serious, occasionally I can’t reduce the volume on DAB (but other sources are ok), I have a ViseeO which is a bit temperamental about connecting, maps are out of date. Just little things that I wanted to see if could be improved. Little north of London unfortunately, South Bucks on the M40Have you had the car a long time? Null usually indicates it's not picking up the version information (it can also take a little while to populate so may just be it needed a little longer to pick up the info)
I'm near Gatwick and have done a number of updates for people for beer tokens/a good whisky - can take up to half a day with firmware updates and nav update - so if you get down this way for a day trip you'd be welcome to dump the car while it runs - you don't need to stand over it, thankfully!

I'm looking at getting a 2011 S5 and then tuning it. Looking at a remap, intake and exhaust. Is this a good idea/silly idea? What sort of money should I be looking to pay for the work? Anyone got recommendations in or near Hampshire? Thanks.
Get a better handle on what you are trying to achieve. It all sounds a bit vague.Chris Harris famously hotted up an S4. The first thing he did was have bigger brakes fitted.

In terms of what I'm trying to achieve, I just want it to go fast and sound nice. I've been away from performance cars for a while and this will be my first time doing any mods to an Audi so I guess I'm a bit out of the loop as it were. If you know any decent resources I could read up on that would be great. Cheers
You could do a whole lot worse than MRC, they’ve done a huge amount of work with the 3.0 supercharged engine. As you’re potentially looking at a 8-9 year old car be aware the DSG boxes need oil changes every 5 years or 40k, that’s an absolute must, not preferable. So the cars you’re looking at might have been due 1 or maybe 2, if no record of it being done I’d walk away from it.

Yep, stage 2 map package from MRC would be awesome (including s-tronic gearbox remap) - all the power you'll ever need
Exhausts are quite tough to justify, as they're utterly extortionate to buy and of quite variable quality given the prices. They also make bugger all difference to performance, in reality. Some small gains might be possible alongside a stage 2 map if the exhaust goes on at the same time.
One thing to consider is that a stage 2 map will always require high octane fuel.

I could be wrong but I think only 3 or so companies offer proper remaps for the S4, others use some cheaper piggy-back system?
MRC are one, REVO is another and I forget the last one. I think the maps are £750-1500 though.
Would really like to map mine but £750 seems alot of money now given the car is probably only worth £9-10k. Mines a manual and I've had the clutch and flywheel done recently so a little less gearbox worry.

Guys, that's incredibly helpful information, thank you. I like the look of the MRC packages. 450bhp for £1,500 is a bargain!
I have another question, my current car is an A4 S Line which has 14 spoke wheels (believe they are called S Line Lemans) which I would like to move from my 2008 A4 Avant to the 2011 S5 Sportback I'm looking at. Will the wheels be compatible? Both cars currently have 19in wheels and I'm 99% sure the stud pattern will match, but what about offset?
Thanks
ETA It's wheels like these I have on my A4 which are 255/35R19 and I want to put on the S5:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SET-GENUINE-19-INCH-LE-...
The advert says they are "OFFSET 8.5J x 19H2 ET43" which I assume is the sae as what I have on my car. Will that fit a 2011 S5 Sportback? Thanks
