I'm having a garage clear-out and came across my notes from when I changed my LT77 gearbox. It's not Haynes and there are no diagrams but I thought I'd post it rather than just binning it:

1. Jack up car and support all four corners on stands or ramps.
2. Remove exhaust:
a) Undo 6 bolts on skid pan
b) Undo linkage to manifold
c) Remove rear bush and bracket
d) Pull apart from the manifold by heaving on the two tail pipes (you may well want to put something soft under the exhaust for it to land on).
3. Undo 4 bolts linking driveshaft to gearbox.
4. Undo wires from speedo sensor
5. Remove gearnob.
6. Undo 6 larger bolts on bell housing/engine.
7. Undo 4 smaller bolts on bell housing/engine.
8. With the back of the gearbox supported on a jack, remove 4 bolts from gearbox supporting cross-member.
9. Undo 2 bolts holding slave cylinder and withdraw slave cylinder.
10. Drop the back of the gearbox down, undo 2 bolts at the back of the linkage, 2 bolts on top of linkage and 1 bolt at the end (connecting) and remove the linkage.
11. Add a 2nd jack under the gearbox and gradually rotate it 45 degrees clockwise (looking from the rear of the car) and pull the back of the gearbox 20 degrees to the nearside. You should now be able to lower the gearbox and bell housing to the floor.
12 Remove 6 bolts linking the bell housing to the gearbox.
13. Pull off the clutch release arm and withdraw the bell housing.

Interesting. I always thought with the LT77 you had to split the bell housing from the box in situe to get it out. Next time it has to come out i will give this a go and see if it will come out as one. thumbup

common knowledge that release bolts for lt77 are within the bell housing! so to detach from gearbox they come of as one or you attack gearbox from engine end. i guess you have never tackled a lt before
