Anyone one else seen this ? Nice bit of Griff history for someone. I wasn't aware that a Griff had appeared in Lovejoy, anyone know what the episode was called ?

Hi there! It's actually my car and as you can imagine I'm very sad to see it go. As far as I know it was in season 6 episode 2, "day of reckoning", haven't watched it so not sure of how much of a part it played but was definitely on there!

Sister car to L110BFV owned by Mike Virgo (or at least it was). L110 got most of the glory out of the 2 cars.
Remember it well from the Growl in 2006 when we had a good selection of press and Griffs with an important history.

Unfortunately not. It only reached £7500 which I was quite surprised as all the hard work has been done and I paid more than that for it 7 years ago with a rotten chassis!! I was thinking it would have reached 5 figures given the current market and the fact I've seen cat d's go for more! Oh well, at that price I'll just rent a garage to keep it in and continue restoring it myself! Not such a bad thing I guess!!!

Hello Dan, suprised it didn't reach £ more, but the Griff seems So undervalued still, when you compare it to say an E Type. I've had both and adore the E, but E Types are now frankly silly £ money, the Griff is still such good value.

How about advertising it on pistonheads with more info and pictures of work completed?

Its got to be worth above 8,500 as a minimum. I've got the ocean haze press car it was parked next to at the 2006 Growl. If mrs FFG hadn't been made redundant I'd have bid.

Hi Dan - I thought the flea bay add said you rubbed down the chassis and painted it? You now say it was rotten?
Anyway just a thought but why not just say what you want for it? No flea bay stuff. Maybe reach a more sympathetic audience and you get what you want?

How much of the original press griff is left? I'm guessing the value of this car is in its history that's traceable back to its factory spec ? I'm looking for a project but would want any such car to have its original features / unique parts if any. if you see what i mean.

Dan I think there's a number of people on here, including me, who are interested but as mentioned below the details in the add we're very brief. What works been done on the chassis, how much welding? What components were replaced/rebuilt (bushes, wishbones, bearings, diff, UJs, brake and fuel lines, brake cal opera and discs). What state is the engine, gearbox and clutch in? At 111,000 miles you'd expect at least one rebuild by now.

Are there any unique features to the car? Was the engine a TVR press car special as that seemed to be common with TVR to fit something more approaching a race engine.

As I said I'm interested but obviously can't judge a reasonable price without more info.

Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike. Well I still own it and sadly not much has changed. Still in a barn in Nottingham, fired up and moved once a week but restoration wise still not progressed I'm afraid.

Ah good that you still have it Dan but not so good that you haven’t had the time to restore it! smile

Are you going to keep it or consider selling it on?

Well in the spirit of Christmas I'm making a list of parts and hope to start in the new year! So discs, pads, tyres and engine bearing shells and gaskets etc.. get it up and running in time for the summer with any luck.
