Stepper Motors

I think mine is knackered.
I've cleaned it and the idle has got better but when driving the car stalls. There is no 'step'
So....
I went online and they are 'how fking much' from TVR dealers.
Anyone tried the eBay versions at £13??t
Carry the right part number and have a 24 month warranty.
I'm struggling as to how the TVR tax is so much on this one.
These things were on a lot of cars in the 90's.

You need to check a couple of things when you get it- look for poor sealing around the motor- Ive seen air leaks when the motor is fitted poorly into the housing. More importantly check how far out the cone is from the motor- some of the pattern ones are about 3-4 mm different to the original, and wont work correctly. If you have RoverGauge you can drive the shaft out of the motor and trim it down and it will work.
Just in case you haven't tried this yet. I took mine for its MOT having not run it for a while and encountered low idle and stalling as described. I disconnected the wires and got a very high idle (as expected) so determined that the ECU must be (for reasons unknown) closing it down too far. Hence I disconnected the ECU for a while (a few minutes I think) to clear all the settings and tried again, perfect idle Don't ask me exactly why the ECU did this but worth trying before replacing anything.
Has anybody else bought a Stepper Motor from BritishParts.co.uk....?
If so, how did you get on?
There seem to be 3 to choose from, which one is relevant to the Griff 500

I gather a decent, reliable, stepper is hard to come by these days, since most of the new ones are now made in the far east and are of dubious quality
My Griff has done 2,000 miles since the stepper was changed, and has been spot on, but in the last week, my idle has started to misbehave

How do you know its the stepper - could be lots of things. I'd check the obvious first - loose plug, lead popped off, coil, AFM, rotor arm, dizzy cap etcIf so, how did you get on?
