I was dumb I forget to push the drivers side strut back fully to lock it

I made the split roof. I just sawed it in half, filled between the skins with isopon and then used self adhesive foam strips to create the water seal in the middle. best mod I ever did. the roof sections fit easily in the boot on top of tools luggage etc.

Its comes as a shock when it happens doesn't it.
I had the big panel eject on the motorway and it was a hell of a surprise.

Like you, I've got a split roof and I put a locating pin towards the back of the roof, which as a locating pin is a pita but it probably helps with stability of the panels if the roof isn't a tight fit - or if you forget to click the roof arm into place.

Did you rescue the panel and how damaged was it?

The panel was fine, slight scuff on one corner. The marshals brought it back at lunchtime.

If that's the case how come I always seem to get a Griff stuck in my rad on track days?

just a little experience (-;. won the national classic marques sprint championship last weekend at goodwood and also went into the lead on the TVRCC Speed Championship so a good day out. not bad for an old griff. the guys and girls are great and it's really friendly with lots of good banter as well.

Oh dear! I bet that had a few scuffs on it when you got it back.

I love that part of Goodwood Circuit where you can drive straight down the middle of the kinks the circuit to straighten it out. You can get some serious speed down there.

hi matthew. it was 137MPH on the straight with a big jump on the brakes just after the 150m board. the rear goes very light and needs tiny corrections to avoid a spin. see video at 1 min 14 ish. doesn't look much on the video but in the car it feels properly wayward and if you lose it there you will probably hit a barrier hard. https://youtu.be/ayRfQxTqGQc

Hi Jes, great video as always. 137MPH is proper quick down there in a Griff, I hit 131MPH down there once in mine and almost st myself. I do like Goodwood, it is a cracking track and suits the Griff being a power circuit.

I actually st myself going through Fordwater at 120MPH pulling 1G. Car got a little unsettled on the standard soft suspension. The instructor said don't lift for Fordwater so I didn't, not so sure on that advice having tried it out. I do have fists of ham so that might have been the issue as opposed to the car or the advice.

Mmmmm.. 120mph is about it for a road car there so that's pushing quite hard. Road tyres are pretty much at their limit at 1G so not too smart by the instructor for a track day. Back in 2004 I tried it at over 130mph in my cerbera with road tyres lost it and hit the wall really hard taking the whole rear end off the car!

To be fair to him he did admit that it was a bit fast and he underestimated that the car keeps on pulling at the same rate over 100MPH. His advice was to lift in future!

130! Ouch! That must have hurt, you are lucky you are still around to tell the tale! There is not much in the way of run off there. 130 in a cerb with a longer wheelbase and better chassis compared to the Griff I would have thought you may have got away with it seeing as the Griff does 121MPH through there.

Proper wink

One handed getting crossed up, that got your attention mate I bet !

Having watched the Goodwood Revival on the Telly and how brilliant the racing was its great to see a Modern Tvr that sounds and drives like one of those fantastic old timers.

You deserve a drive Jes wink

I noticed the drivers at Goodwood don't even try to keep them in a straight line, it's so hard they tend to just ride the slides instead,,, brilliant stuff and what all racing should be about in my book smile
Great save Jes, that was going to get naughty without those subtle calm hand movements, my hearts in my mouth hehe
