A wonderful gathering of Cerbs today for the rolling road session.

I had to leave at lunch time due to commitments with the Speed 12, so I'm sure
there will be a lot more to come from others later.

Here are a couple of images ahead of a full report on TCR

Thanks to Charlie and his team and to Joospeed for putting so much time into the event.

I reckon our Cerbs need a pair of fans like that as standard

Totally agree, it was great day, lots of Cerbs and the odd T350 and Tamora. Also a good chance to meet some fellow owners and put some nicknames to faces.

I am sure the results were being recorded so they will be posted up soon.

400bhp .... did it happen? I hope so, but had to leave before the end!

For the record my Cerb 4.5 (de-cat and sports exh) put out 339bhp and 338lbs torque on it's first run, then Jools (Joospeed) fitted an Emerald ECU with generic map, so not set up specifically to my car, and it made 376bhp and 368lbs torque . Not only was I impressed with the big improvement in the figures, but the car feels so much more responsive!! It didn't feel slow before, but now it pulls and responds so much better, it made the long drive back to sunny Yorkshire fly by!! I am very impressed, I just can't wait to get it mapped specifically to my car and then see even larger power output.

General results showed no real difference in BHP between 4.2's and 4.5's, with outputs ranging from 330bhp - 365bhp in standard form, it was only really in torque that there was a difference with the 4.5's having the advantage. Sound of the day in my opinion went to 4.2's.....

Hi all.
Blinding day .. thanks to Charlie and his workfriend for the day. I think a few new friendships were forged .. not one car let the side down .. all amde at least reasonable power, and some were very good.

Sadly 400bhp on the day that mattered didn't materialise, but 392 flywheel and 320 bhp at the wheels was enough to secure victory for Joospeed and Cliff on the day by some 30bhp over the nearest non-remap rival (a 4.5 red rose I think). satman Paddy (3rd most powerful car on day?) very efficiently took note of all the readings, well done that man.

Also well done to Paddy's car for having the highest torque output of the day. In fact Emerald remap cars took highest 4.5bhp, highest torque of all and highest 4.2 bhp I believe. Good result I'd say

Best wishes to all who stayed to the bitter end, and many thanks to all the cerbera owners who turned out to make this a brilliant event. Hopefully I managed to chat to almost all of you, thanks to njw and paul from austec for coming down, good to meet you, and thanks to ACT Tim for coming too

what a great event, when's the next one?

....2nd most powerful on the day!! ...377 bhp compared to the Redrose at 365bhp...and with highest torque at 369lb...

working on all the stats at the mo and will post these shortly...

Had a cracking day yesterday, great to put lots of faces to names and see a good selection of Cerbs together. I was very happy with my 348bhp & 333ftlbs (standard 4.2), shamed a few 4.5s (even a yellow one I think )

Nearly made it to the bitter end, finding the kettle at about 2:30 helped a lot!

Did Ceejays car run again at the end? (I presume not from the figures above)

Cheers
Jon

Shame I couldnt have stayed longer. Good to meet some of you yesterday, would have liked more time to see more peeps, but hey ho. Even got to shake the hand of the ledgendary Jools

Serious question Joo (as opposed to one of my wind-ups), think your car ran a lower result due to the different rollers or to do with atmospheric conditions etc? Just asking so I know what to expect when THAT car gets on Charlie's rollers.

Looking at the numbers there is only 2% difference between them so each set of rollers could be 1% out, which is perfectly acceptable to me

What a fantastic day, bit cold but a terrific turnout of cars and some impressive results. First car of the day on the rolls, a standard 4.5 made something like 365bhp, the best I've seen.

My car made 392.4bhp in the morning session. We were going to run it again because the Nobles plot showed a peak after the Surrey run had been stopped but I reckon at best the car would have made 395bhp. So given the choice between standing around frozen and hungry for another 15 minutes or going to the pub I wimped out and had a beer with some terrific Cerbie owners. Rounded the day off very nicely indeed.

Can't wait to see the final stats but I do know that Emerald mapped cars took the top three spots. Most impressively the third place car had an Emerald fitted by Joo on the day with a map from another car (Satman). The results certainly raised a few eyebrows and lets say the owner looked a little bit happy. The final results will reveal all.

On the subject of rolls, the Surrey readings tied in really well with Nobles. Seem to be repeatable to within 2% which I consider to be very acceptable. So big thanx to Surrey Rolling Road and Joospeed for a great day out.

OK gents...form and orderly queue please...

Cerbera Surrey Rolling Road day 12/3/05

The results given below are those supplied by Charlie immediately after each cars power run, for both BHP and Torque. These are flywheel figures, but a correction figure applied to these at 19.5% will give ‘at the wheel figures’. I have also ‘rounded’ figures…so if your car showed for example 337.5, this will show as 338, and likewise with a figure of 351.1, this will show as 351

4.5 CERBERA

1.Ceejay……… 392 bhp - 364 lbs torque (engine mods/Emerald)
2.Satman……… 377bhp - 369 lbs torque (Emerald)
3.Cyclone……… 375bhp - 365 lbs torque (Emerald)…. see note below
4.Angusfaldo……365bhp – 352 lbs torque (standard)
5.Katanarog…….365bhp – 345 lbs torque (Red Rose)
6.PaulH…………353bhp – 325 lbs torque
7.MarkJ…………352bhp – 326 lbs torque
8.Blue4.5………...348bhp – 344 lbs torque
9.Richard………..346bhp – 348 lbs torque
10.PetrolTed……...345bhp – 342 lbs torque
11.GCerbera………342bhp – 318 lbs torque
12.Cooperturbo……338bhp – 320 lbs torque
13.Bennett24……...337bhp – 332 lbs torque
14.John.s………….336bhp – 335 lbs torque
15.Neilus………….332bhp – 338 lbs torque

Cyclone’s first run, in standard form, made 339 bhp – 338 lbs torque, which when changing the ECU to an Emerald, with a map copied from Satman’s Emerald ECU, made 36bhp – 27 lbs torque gains.

4.2 CERBERA

1.Carbon Al. …….360bhp – 320 lbs torque (Emerald ECU)
2.Longbow……… 359bhp – 330 lbs torque
3.Slvrcrb………. 351bhp – 332 lbs torque
4.Jonnie5……….. .348bhp – 333 lbs torque
5.David.S………... 345 bhp – 327 lbs torque
6.Jellie…………… 336bhp – 340 lbs torque

INTERESTING STATS….
Average bhp/torque figures, based upon the cars at this RR session, and ignoring any modified cars (Emerald ECU & Red Rose), gave the following…
4.5’s produced 343 bhp and 333 lbs torque.
4.2’s produced 348 bhp and 332 lbs torque.
Average Modified 4.5 car’s (Emerald ECU), produce 381 bhp and 366 lbs torque

Interestingly...if you use the top five of the standard 4.5 cars figures(to compare against the five standard 4.2's), you get 353bhp - 339 lbs torque

Foot note: I have listed figures above as given to me, by Charlie immediately after each run. I apologise if these figures vary greatly from those that you have. Let me know of any big differences and I will change for you…(the odd bhp here and there I wont!!!).

Many thanks for doing all the paddy, much appreciated.

three things that come out of the list strike me :

angusfaldo's car is particualrly good .. would love to get my hands on that one, and katanrog's car has much more to come I'm sure. Also Longbow's 4.2 is a stunner, great figures from a std car there

thanks again to everyone who made this day so special

oo n lastly apologies for demoting you one place Paddy in my earlier post .. you should be very pleased with how your car perfromed .. I'm sure there's many envious owners looking at your figures and saying .. "if only .." hope to see you on track soon

Speaking of tracks .. Hopefully ceejay's car will be one of the fastest track cerbies out there now .. (almost) the 400hp, track biased nitrons, 335mm upgraded brakes .. I love that car

Now thats an interesting list of figures.

Shame no one can claim the 400bhp honours though

Be interested to know the comparative ages and mileages of those cars. Be even more interesting to have comparative cylinder pressure tests. Did anyone take a note of them?

The standard 4.2's seem to do very well considering the book figure is 350bhp .

Joolz what sort of increases do you envisage for an Emerald 4.2?

From the looks of the results it appears the Emerald is a more effective upgrade on 4.5's purely from a bhp/torque point of view.

Glad the day went well .

I understand the 400 bhp figure hadnt been achieved, as the RPM at which ceejays car peaks this figure (around 7200rpm I think) hadnt been reached on the dyno run...(charlie saw the BHP figure start to slide a little at about 6800 I think and thought the peak had been reached) where in fact, when you look at the Noble gragh, this does in fact happen, but then increases again to the 400 mark! Ceejay was going to run the car again at the end of the day...but as it was getting very cold again, and late...the call of a pint at the local pub seemed more inviting!!

Not quite sure what you mean by comparative cylinder pressure tests?

at the point at which the trace stops, the Nobles and Surrey plots were just 1bhp apart!

Maybe when we get the proper production upgrade fitted to Cliff's car we'll be back to claim the 400.

In the meantime of course njw's car will have been rebuilt and be back on the rollers, he's promised to take it to SRR after rebuild to get a comparison done ...

320hp at the wheels is the figure to beat Nick best of luck If you beat us we'll just have to upgrade Cliff's to 5 litre

The most powerful car on the day:

CeeJay's Cerbera 4.5
Mods: Joospeed's Emerald ECU Install/Mapping and Intake Mod - £1600+VAT (I think, thats pound for pound the best 'independently proven' performance package out there at this moment in time, very impressive guys )

Ash said:
The most beautiful car on the day:

Craigs NOS Cerbera 4.5
Mods: Too many to list, but in the flesh she's a stunner, cant wait until she's 101% sorted and gets on the rollers

Ash said:
The loudest car on the day:

Carbon Al's Matt-Finish Cerbera 4.2
Mods: Carbon Al's cone-air-filter mods, Emerald ECU, Decat, Sports Ex-system, and the special Carbon Al' mod - the matt-finish treatment, which apparently is the reason behind winning the number 1 position for bhp in the 4.2 fold. (I also understand that the map needs some more tweeking which could see more bhp and a more solid torque reading yet!)

Paul from Austec came down and witnessed the Joospeed modded cerbie's output, cant wait to see Pauls modded cerby output - this is great, competition in its cleanest form, hopefully the drive of competition will produce a 420bhp collection of mods...

It was freakin cold, no bloody chairs, no bloody food, next time, someone bloody organise some basic ammenities!!!

Oh...

Wheres the pic of Joolz with the special prize????
