Hi all,

Sorry, me again..

Just wondering if there's a guide on the Griffith Dashboard removal?

From memory it's steering wheel off, remove two screws in the dash either side of the column, radio out using the correct release tools, then dash vents out - they just pull out. There might be a wing nut somewhere near the radio but I'm not sure!
Refitting, I used thick cable ties slid through the loose vents to guide the steel vent tubes into the right place to allow the vents to slide inside them. That might not make sense until you have it all in bits.
Worth putting masking tape all around the dash aperture to protect the leather as wriggling the dash out can potentially scuff the upholstered bits. Be really careful removing the dash as a lot of the plugs and wires on mine did want to self release themselves, great fun working out where they're supposed to plug in. Think that's it - it might be in Steve heaths bible in more detail - well worth getting if you're a new owner, or do a search on here as someone will have taken pics while removing.

Wing nut accessible through the left hand vent at about 10 o'clock, right at the edge of the dash.

I knew I could vaguely remember some sort of Blackpool skin removal device in that general area.....

It's not always the easiest job to remove the steering wheel. Just remove the two bolts that hold the column to the underside of the dash surround and lower the column and steering wheel onto an axle stand.

Also, when you pull out the dash with all the wires still attached have a thick towel draped across the tunnel so that you have something to rest it on.

All in all, not as daunting a job as it may sound.

I would put some Vaseline on the leather too as to help if you are talking the dash out completely, helps save the leather and the stiching.

Indeed. Dash will be out in a few minutes this way as you have much more room to work in.

As Hedgehopper says not the easiest job removing the steering wheel without a puller as it is fitted on a taper, I made one:

http://www.bertram-hill.com/steering-wheel-puller....

But for dash removal you do not need to remove the wheel and boss. Just remove the wheel itself by undoing the small black bolts securing it to the boss.

As above, slide drivers seat back, lower the column, be careful pulling the panel out not to mark the leather, mine was tight, and you get this .

It's not bad at all.

The main issue is that if you need to remove the clocks the lugs are a pain to deal with, mine flew off to all parts of the garage and had some that were tacked on and some held with silkaflex.

Got mine replaced by SportMotive while in for other work. They did a great job. Worth knowing there is a plan B if needed.
