Thanks for the reply phillpot, some interesting points made. Hopefully the pre-cat Griffith will eventually grow on you and take pride of place in your list of preferences.

Definitely agree that a Griff feels more taught, but I've only been an S passenger. It hasn't occurred to me before but perhaps your full body-v-tub and flip front is a major contributing factor.

Please keep us updated on any 'improvements' you make to the car.

Hi Frank, not a very chatty lot over here are they!
Thats why you should of gone further on the Dark side and bought a Chimdriving
That could be because we're doers, not yappers!

Didn't take me too long (ok - google!). Penelope has checked it over and it's all good to go.

phillpot, how are finding the pre-cat Griffith driving experience in comparison with your S?
Hi Dave, apologies for the delay in replying, in a nut shell it's very different!

I'm probably not the best at explaining things but, like the Chimaera (am I allowed to say that?) I had a few years ago, the Griff feels stiffer, more taught ? Possibly partly an illusion because it has a complete body and not just a tub with a flip front? Maybe the chassis is better, stiffer and of course the rear suspension is a little more sophisticated.

Obviously the extra BHP is quite noticeable but not as much as the buckets of torque!

Somehow it feels very different sat in it, I don't think the "cabin" is particularly bigger but everything is in slightly different positions, enough to make driving it a very different experience............... but still my my little S wink

Mirror mounts fitted, all quite straight forward and door hinge bushes replaced, same bushes but different set-up to the S. Fiddly but no real problem. Lubed all the window runners and mechanism while I had access and sorted the inevitable stripped self tappers into fibreglass.

Been sorting a few other little issues and doing a bit of "tarting up", update soon smile

Yep, new wheels fitted today........................

S has just had new tyres, neither have been moved since jacking up so both looking a bit "high"

and I've been tarting things up a bit around the seat belt mount, pair of mounting modifiers, new bolts for them and targa pivot, screw caps changed from white to grey ( sounds petty but they looked like they'd been robbed out of someones bathroom) and new velcro. All needs a good vac and clean then seats can go back in, someone had previously swapped then round (seat back adjusting levers were on transmission tunnel side), they'll go back in the right way round, what will now be the passenger seat is more worn than the drivers seat.

Your seat belt mounts look good, far better than the originals. Did you make them yourself or are they proprietary components?

New AMILs, wow! Very nice.

I know the handbook says the seat back adjuster is on the outer seat edge, most Griffs I've been in, including two of my own, have the adjuster on the inner edge by the tunnel. I personally think this gives a much cleaner, uncluttered look to the cabin, especially on entry.

JOOI, do you have any problems with exhaust fumes entering into the cabin.

They were designed by someone over on the S Series Forum years ago, I used his drawing and had a pair made by a local engineering shop then later another S guy set out and had a batch made and I bought a spare pair........... more info here

Todays little job, give the very grubby Magnecor leads a bit of a scrub up.

Spot the difference..............

They'll be going back on (once they've dried out) with heat proof boots rather than the extender things.

I'm probably into next years allowance by now but hey-ho, here's my new interior light (please, control your excitement).

the original looked like it had overheated, maybe too high wattage bulb or just left on? As well as the lamp itself being a bit crispy and cracked some of the surrounding vinyl was a little cooked.

Decided a bigger lamp would sort/hide the issue easier than re-trimming the hoop, a look around on Ebay came up with a Ka lamp, mounting clips slightly wider apart but soon had a bit of fibreglass filed out and in it popped.

Thought an LED bulb would be a good idea (not so hot if inadvertently left on again) but bulb holder earths the contact on the end of the bulb not the casing so back to front for an LED. Bit of jiggery pokery with a soldering iron and scrap of copper and we had it adapted to take an LED festoon, sorted smile

After all that it turned out the passenger side courtesy light switch was broken, luckily I have some spares.............

I don't know what glue you used for the Velcro strips for the hood. I had mine Pop Riveted so it didn't come a drift. smile

Phillpot,
I know exactly your problem.
Mine has been left unloved for too long. Lots of niggles to fix just to get it up to scotland. Might need one of your door switches?

Can pop you a couple in the post Ian if you want/need them before Scotland ?

Mines been on the "back burner" for a few days while I swapped the camshaft in the S and the inevitable other little jobs that are easier while the engines half stripped down.
