I'm wondering if somebody has some wisdom on seat mechanisms they can share.

The drivers seat mechanism in my car can jump out of a locked position which obviously isnt ideal.

Now having had the seat out the mechanism is fairly simple, just a sprung leaver that slots into a notch. one option I assume would be to just replace the slider and hope the new notches are tighter.

I had another idea after looking on TVR parts for the bits, on there is has the following.
Part NumberTVR U1549
Product Description
This u shaped bar is fitted between the runners to allow the occupant to release both runners simultaneously and the seat to slide. Used on Cerbera, Tuscan, T350 etc, but could propably be retrofitted to older models using the latter runners

which in turn led me to think that this option or maybe runners from a later car would be a better option ?

Any advise from those that may have already walked this path would be welcome.

Cheers
Richard

Could just be the mechanism is either rusty or bunged up with carpet fluff?

A good clean and oil should do the trick. If it is worn the clean/oil will make it worse so you will soon know.
I think those runners are available from Car Builder Solutions.
