Yeah, saw that, but don't want to have to use floor bolts to remove the battery each time. Will do some research! (I can fab flat and angle alli, but don't have the machinery to work on block alli)

Thanks to all that responded.

In the end I went with the Varta E24 with 70Ah and 630 CCA. Cranking speed is very good and at less than £80 delivered with a four year guarantee that gives me a worst case scenario of three and a half new batteries over the next 16 years before the PC1500 becomes cost effective at an eye watering £280!!

I reckon you have made a good decision, those Odyssey batteries are a massive rip off

Its a fair point, I was lucky enough to get my PC1500 at cost price as I work with battery suppliers and one is an Odyssey dealer, however that was six and half years ago and it was still £190!

I could have bought a good quality cheaper battery at say £80 and I'm sure it would have lasted 5-6 years, but it would probably have needed replacing by now so I'd be at £160 at this point with another 5-6 years of battery life ahead of me. Basically I need to get 15 years out of my PC1500 or it will have proved to have been the more expensive option, on the other hand anything over 15 years and my Odyssey starts to become the better value battery which I freely admit is a hell of a long time to wait.

Of course my decision to choose the Odyssey PC1500 was more than about it's potential extended life, I just wanted the best battery I could get as I was sick of short lived batteries on the TVR and was keen to buy something with real cranking endurance and tolerance to parasitic drains, the Odyssey PC1500 really is added insurance the car will always start no matter what and even after long lay-ups where no charger is available.

A TVR really can be a practical classic sports car and I've always focused on enhancing that practicality, I want to be able to treat the car as I would any other car and you wouldn't put up with not being able to leave your regular everyday car for two to three weeks at an airport car park.

I often think we baby our TVRs and make too many excuses for them, it's just a car and should work just like any other car, I want my TVR to be just as reliable and dependable as my company car because if I lost my job and the car that comes with it my TVR would immediately need to become my everyday hack.

My only point would be any car that’s left for months at a time without regular use, no battery charging /activation will degrade its battery.
I’m sure often the cause of knackered batteries on Tvr is for this reason rather than the car destroys batteries. Any car with an alarm system primed will have a parasitic drain as we often call it.

Regular use from my experience shows the battery to last and work with no problems.

This ^ batteries are pretty much use em or lose em , or disconnect from all drain and periodically float charge them but thats the best you can do

I'm getting closer to deciding what battery to fit. Location will be in the boot as the PO intended with the refurb' of the Chim'

Described as "racing" and "motorsport" battery?

Supplier tells us they are "battery Specialists", I'd be inclined to ask them for their opinion whether it's suitable for your application and if not their suggestion scratchchin
