I have a similarly extended Mulfab sump, 9 litre capacity, no clearance issues. I suspect yours will be fine, but worth checking.

Lovely job, Matthew, and I suspect it will be as quick as my 4.6 turbo, which only runs at relatively low pressure.
You should have similar BHP to me, and as much useable torque (max torque on my turbo is 525 ft lbs, but only in a much narrower band than your NA engine).

I look forward to a bit of track action to test the real world performance of our cars.
Peter has been suggesting a June date at Castle Combe, a track we all like......

or buy a 4.3 Griff to pinch them off and then sell the Griff without them

Matt
Are you going to fly by wire??

Looks very pretty!

before you settle on a final induction you might want to read my thread from a couple of years ago here, don't throw away power by running too short :

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Thanks for the advice. I remember that thread, I was gutted to read about the poor performance of the the 5.3 Wildcat engine. Mine is going to be pretty short as it needs to fit under the bonnet of my Griff. It will be interesting to see the figures once it is dynoed

My extended Mulfab sump had plenty of clearance.

I use an electric vacuum pump to assist the brakes.

Lovely job Mathew.
Hi Peter, good shout on the electric vacuum pump. I will take a look at those. Thank you

Very very sexy from top to bottom, love it.

Should produce some serious power especially with that compression & cam, what size are the throttle bodies?

Are you going to fly by wire??

Respect sir.
Steve
Thank you sir, very kind. 48mm throttle bodies no plans for fly by wire at the moment but I won't rule it out as a future development.

The rocker covers are quite rare now and exchange hand for a fair amount of money. TVR cast a run of rocker covers which used on the early TVR Rover V8s and the V8 Tuscan Challenge cars. You often see these on other Rover V8 cars where the owners wish to run roller rockers as the TVR cast ones are taller and will accommodate most roller rockers without requiring modification.

These I have had for over 5 years and as part of the engine build I decided to get them striped and powder coated for use on the new engine. For me these are an important part of the engine as the build was inspired by legendary 4.5 TVR Tuscan Challenge engines.

I could replicate those. Of interest how tall are they?

Matt

“powder coated”, thanks for the idea, I'll have to get mine done now. At least your ITBs will not cover one of them like the standard plenum does, they are going to look so cool and they serve a purpose.

If you do, they could do with being another 5mm taller as I had to use two cork gaskets each side to clear my Yella Terras.

You might well get some strong interest if you could do a run of these.

A sample would be useful and I'd incorporate additional height as Steve suggested.

It would be nice to have a set with an AN fitting for a remote flame tramp / catch can. However, the 'standard' version would be very nice biggrin

Let me try and find it first. I’ll post a pic.

^ That would be really good and I'd do your pair at cost :-)

^^ I could leave a 'thick' spot to allow for AN fittings.

It needs one of the large threaded holes left blank. If these are made and threaded after casting then just leaving in complete would suffice.

Hi Alan, hopefully in the next couple of months. I will update this thread as the build progresses.

I thought the same so Ged Sant kindly made me up a couple of AN-12 fittings that screw into the original rockers.

I would be interested in either a standard pair of the TVR rockers as a spare or a modified version, taller and with AN connections.

Dom and the team at Power have completed the build of the engine.

Final specification:

TVR Power bespoke Taraka 5.3 engine rebuild
5.298cc engine capacity
Compression Ratio - 12.36:1
Doug Kiddie 91.5mm crank shaft
JE Lightweight I beam forged connecting rods
JE Lightweight forged pistons
JE Short DD inlet manifolds
DD Jenvey throttle bodies with ITG filters
Yella Terra Billet fully cradled roller rockers
TVR 377/21 Solid camshaft
Solid lifters
TTV Billet flywheel
ARP bolts
SiFab baffled sump with additional oil capacity and windage tray
TVR 500 heads upgraded to Taraka spec cc'd and port matched

Jody at Python Racing clearing a slot in his availability to prepare the car for the engine to be fitted. There are a number of decisions to be made around the fitment of the ITBs including sorting the brake vacuum system, crank case ventilation to catch can, oil cooler, PAS reservoir relocation etc.

Once Jody has worked his magic the car will be back to Power fit the MBE ECU and commission the engine.

Think my nut sac is about to explode reading that spec. BRAVO!

Any further thoughts on producing these? I’d like a set subject to cost of course
