Plug Leads

Could I ask if some of you could look at your distributor and see which side of the clip holding the cap to the distributor is the lead plugged into for cylinder 1 (ie cylinder on the front nearside of car) is to the left or right of the clip that holds the cap to the dizzy. I am right that the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2? Thanks.

Isn't that strange. So I checked the plug leads on my Green Meanie (95 Reg 500) and my plug leads are offset clockwise by 3 positions on the distributor cap but in the same firing order.

I can only assume that someone in the past rotated my distributor by this amount for some reason and then had to move the plug leads around....
