Cant use later 4.0/4.6 pistons in the small crank journal blocks these have different con rods if your bores and pistons are serviceable pay for a proper hone and get the block de-bunged and hot tanked , get crank checked journal condition size etc and build with quality fasteners through out ARP the lot inc the whole rotating assy , if your going for it get the whole thing balanced maybe flywheel lightening if not already and the static CR confirmed and check rocker gear worn rockers, shafts, loose tip pads , you may need to get the con-rods re-circled if you decide to fit ARP studs to these although thats not always necessary , then you got cam choice etc etc duplex timing chain set , quality Mahle/Clevite bearings , decent gaskets Reinz/Elring etc
Thanks for the advice, Sardonicus.
It's from an automatic, but I have a lightened Flywheel already fitted to the Griff.
I did think about roller rockers, and an aftermarket CNC ported BV Head, once the bottom end is rebuilt...Any thoughts on a suitable cam, with uprated intake, etc.?

Yes the 4.3 is considered the sweet spot by TVR engine builders
Don't really know why when you can go straight to a later 4.6 and an overbore to 4.8, and offset grind the crank to 5.0 if you wanted. Unless it's to keep some form of originality in a griff or chim 430, or you got the engine really cheap, I've no idea why you'd use it over a 4.6 based rebuild.spitfire4v8 said:

Agreed, I think the rep just comes from the fact that its a good displacement sweet spot for the RV8 (good power and revvy) and some had some nice internals when they came from TVR (few certainly not all) even many non BV's had some lovely re-worked heads for example that I'm sure found their way onto the rare 4.0 250 engine cars where as the 4.0/4.6/5.0 are generally a fixed spec no trinkets or surprises inside Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
