I’m sure this might have been covered before but...

Immobiliser is playing up. Normally to start car, key into ignition, ignition on, then depress fob, fuel pump noise etc can be heard and car fires up (failing to press centre of fob means car turns over but doesn’t start). Said fob is also used to lock car as you know.
Now neither fob (I obviously have a spare) is working so a) car can only be started by inserting the ‘stick’ part of the fob into its gap in the steering column which works perfectly fine and b) I cannot currently lock the car.

I was thinking it might be something as simple as a fuse but not clear which fuse covers the above looking at the handbook (if at all) and everything else seems to be working fine. I’ve had a couple of flat battery issues on the car over the winter and it’s been jump started as a result. Not sure if this might be cause or not?

Any suggestions most welcome.

I had similar things happening recently. Went to start it after it had been on trickle charge for a few months, with a couple of episodes of the charge dipping somewhat (people inadvertently switching the charger off, that sort of thing). If you've got a decent charge in the battery, just try disconnecting then reconnecting it. Worked for me!

Thanks. I’ll look at that as a possible solution first.

Kitwa- you were spot on. Breaking the circuit on the battery did the trick. Normal service resumed. Thanks v much.
