Mine's ticked over 30 years in October, 10 of them with me. Was a 4.0 but now a (rebuilt!) 4.6.

Garage needs a bloody good sort out!

I'm picking up a pre-cat 4.0 Griff in a couple of weeks. Pics to follow!

Can anyone advise what the external / body differences are between the pre-cat cars, the later cars and the 500? Would be great to know, thanks.

Regarding the front differences

Scroll back through the messages and you will see most have the early original front which is correct for a pre-cat and a couple that have the later front which may have been for some reason best known by the owner.

It might look like a post-CAT but is in fact 1994 precat in 5L body.
1994 needed cats. I’ve just bought a 430 and assumed that all 430s were “precat” - but being May 1993 should have cats.

TVR pre-registered some 1992 chassis to avoid fitting cats in 1993 and also some overseas models did not have them either.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrongargue

A Dutch registered pre-cat, very nice and must be unique out there, have you had it long?

Hello,

I own the car for about 12 years now. It is a RHD and had a nut and bolt rebuild and converted it to a 4.5BV, cross bolted engine

I met a guy from Holland at Zolder in 1995 and 1996 who had a 4.3 Pre cat in Holland, maybe this is your car in the middle of these 3?

Very interesting precat. Was it originally registered from new in the Netherlands or was it Uk registered and then imported?

Here's my Pre-cat 4.0 first registered in May 1992 and purchased by me in Sept 1996, sold in Sept 1997 and bought back in 1998!!

She's been on SORN over the Winter but seeing this thread is giving me the urge to tax her and get her out for a run this weekend - especially if there's something decent and motor related to go to... If not might just be a National Trust somewhere.

Visiting Blackpool (Bristol Avenue) for a retrim and fettle in 2020

Touring the Brecon Beacons in 2021

Breaking down on our wedding day in Ireland July 2000... RAC brought her back on a HGV for the honeymoon (turned out to be a busted alternator...)

The Missus looking rather foxy in her around 1998...

Following retrim in 2021 - I was never a huge fan of the all magnolia interior and it yellowed with age I think. Tried to improve it but in keeping with the car - Irish mist and forest green full leather, new LED lighting on heater controls and repositioned fan blower so it actually does something to demist and heat the car now...
