I had a griff in 95/6 and still miss it - So I thought I'd buy a new one, however this time it'll be just a "sunday" (last time I did about 16000 in 10 months!) car so I was wondering if any of you on the list have a limited miles insurance and if so how much is it (and who from) I'm 37 living in themidlands with a Full ncb

thanks

Well I am covering 16000 miles a year and, although my insurance isn't up for another eight weeks I just got a sub £400 quote from LloydsTSB, of all people! Currently with Directline at about £600 last year. Have had some silly quotes, though (£1000 plus). So just goes to show - don't rule any of them out.

Age 40, full NCB, garaged in Surrey.....(and the car! - '96 Griff)

I am with Heritage (advertise in Sprint) I have a limited milage, agreed value policy costing under £500.

Midlands based, 34 yrs old, plus my wife on the policy too.

The do not have a NCB scheme as such. A friend has just insured a Cerbie with Classic Line, also in sprint and was quoted £420.

My insurance requirements seem similar to yours, I have a limited mileage policy (3000 p/a) with A.Manning UK Limited (Tel: 01491 578759 ext. 206 for TVR scheme). Cost £434.70 only requirement is memmbership of TVR Car Club (about £38). I had a full NCB but it could not be transferred.
Hope this helps.

Norton Insurance 'Heritage' do policies for 1500 and 3000 miles, trackdays, laid-up cover and other stuff. Their leaflet was in the last copy of Sprint. www.heritage-quote.co.uk 0121 246 6060.

The only bit I wasn't sure about was the term 'market value'. They admitted that in the event of a write-off, that meant they'd only pay out trade value. I pointed out that, not being in the trade, I wouldn't be able to replace the car with an equivalent for that money. Never did get a satisfactory answer!

I ended up paying around £600 from Direct Line, with another £100 to protect the 5yr no claims bonus. My wife is on the policy - they said this made it cheaper.

Seems I paid too much but I rang most of the names mentioned and they were all more money. Perhaps it's because it's my first year of driving the Griffith. Some of the specialist insurers asked if I had driven a similar car before and although my previous car was a V8, it wasn't in the same league.

38 yrs old, Kent, car kept in garage.
