Griff has just failed the MOT for 'front brakes not balanced', it looks as if one of the discs is warped!
So after an expensive rad replacement last month I was tempted to have a go myself until the bible scared me half to death.
Is it a relatively straight forward job or am I better off paying the pro's? And any thoughts on sourcing the discs?

I've done the job myself, it's not hard, the biggest problem is releasing the caliper carrier and taking care not to strip out the socket head bolts. Usually these have been Loctite'd in, but if they wont budge try applying some heat to melt the Loctite. I've replaced mine with normal hex head bolts to make the job a little easier next time. Then just remove the disk, there are no other fixings. For disks try TMS they'll send you a set or failing that take a disk to a motor factor, Ford part but which one nobody knows.

I have just fitted two new front discs and pads to my Griff 500 two days ago .
the job is simple just make sure you use the correct sized allen key.
discs were £78 each and a set of discs were £60 from Blackpool the car brakes are now working fine , I to had a warped disc and two cracked discs pads

£78 per disc and £60 set of pads(I assume it's pads) sounds expensive,I bought a big brake kit from Hi-spec motorsport for just over £200 last year including Mintex 1144 pads,easy to fit and more feel and power than std,better resistence to fade too.
Fitting the std parts is very easy if you use correct and high quality tools cheap tools destroy fasteners,also get someone to check the fluid level as you push the piston back into the caliper if you don't you could end up with brake fluid all over the inner wing,this is a bad thing!might be a good idea to change the fluid as part of the job,I've found Motul RBF600 excellent. Hope this helps.

Yes and be careful. Clean the discs to remove any film otherwise the brakes don't work. It can also take a while for them to bed in correctly. Leave a lot of braking distance.
As for scaring... the procedure is well documented and illustrated in the bible 2. Not difficult with the right tools but if you don't feel comfortable doing it, then get someone who is. Brakes are safety items and need to be done correctly.

£78 is expensive for standard disks,
Qulaity Brembo standard disks are about £32-33 each from a discount supplier, and a set of greenstuff pads about £27. Less than £100 all in.
