All Griffs & Chimps have a starter motor gremlin (so I belive at least) - hot exhaust pipes overcooking it - but 2 mins seems too quick.

Hang on... Noisy's problem is the other way around. If he leaves it for *too long* it won't start.

That's a really creative gremlin in there...

Unfortunately, I'm something of an armchair mechanic, so I've no idea what this would be.

Noisygrif, I had a similar problem but was at higher temp, the engine cut out and restarted, baffled mechs but looked in an old Rover 3.5 haynes manual and discovered a tempreture switch on the fuel injection, when hot, shuts fuel off, after a couple of minutes cooling away it went until temp rose in traffic then same again. I suggest you check switch it is on the fuel rail but would get a injection specialist to look at it, but suggest it to him to save time.

Yes it sounds like heat soak, you can lag the fuel rails to reduce heat soak when stopped but this shouldn't affect it while it's running. Could be some electrical component breaking down in the heat I suppose. Have you check the coil, plug leads and supressor caps?

Thanks guys. I had no idea that there was a temp cut out. I'll have a look for that.

I haven't checked the caps etc, but I will, and I will try to lag the pipes. Is that something you've done, Peter? If so, how. I'm sure my mum would say kitchen foil... and she'd probably be right. Damn.

Has anyone found the Gremlins chapter in the owners' handbook. I'm sure it must be in there somewhere!
It's all worth it when the sun comes out, though.
