Discussion
I have still not found out what is causing pooling in the back, however, I have found other leaks which have been causing both footwells to collect water. The water is clearly coming in though the joint where the front of the roof touches the side windows, at the corner. Water is running down the metal window strut and inside the door, into the footwell. On inspecting the roof, the rubbers had come out of their tracks at the front, but on replacing them, water still runs down the metal window strut and into the car. I found that some bolts to the rear of the footwell were rusty, so I suspect this has been a long term problem.
Now I have two leaks, neither of which I can prevent happening, as everything appears to be in order. I now use a car cover at home, and hope it does'nt rain whilst its at the station.
It would seem the roof on mine is not in good condition. I suspect the whole thing needs replacing?

It may only be part of the problem, but you'd be amazed how much water can come through the roof fabric and stiching if they've not been waterproofed for a while. Even if you only get a drip every few seconds, if you let that go on all night you'll have a couple of litres of water in the car.
Listen to Martin! Never mind all that sealant and waterproofing and stuff. You'll get horrible gunk all over you and it won't come off, and anyway, you have a life don't you? Just get a cover - either a hood cover (which I have and have no leaks when it's on, and a few when it isn't) or a full car cover. Problem solved.
If the roof hasn't been proofed for a while (6 months or more) the rain can soak into it the fabric, run down (especially on the sides of the roof behind the door window) the side and into the inner velcro flap then drip like mad onto the back shelf, either that or it just soaks into the carpet on the side on the shelf, runs down, creates a pool.
Fabsil or Thompsons water seal makes the water bead and just run off the roof before it soaks in, always works for me.

I definitely think the door seals are duff, because I checked the passanger footwell last night, and while there's not as much water in it, the carpet is still quite damp. Could it be that the roof is not sealing properly above the windscreen? I've checked the roof fabric, and it's ruffled along the front edge of the panel in places. What's the best glue to stick it back to the panal with?
Thanks,
Dan.
