My 'Meta' alarm system on my Griff 500 has stopped
working. I have replaced the batteries on both key fobs, tried the 4 second & 1 second trick to activate the alarm but it just wont lock the doors.

If I sit in the car - I can lock the doors with the central locking, I can start the car after de-activating the immobaliser using the plastic key.

Lastly - the car has not got wet at all as it's been in the garage for 3 months. The alarm fuses on the board are all OK (checked by using indicators.)

So - does anyone know if it sounds like an alarm problem or something else.

Also - is the alarm contained in the one unit near the
radiator - as I cannot find any other control boxes for it.

Thanks

Sounds like an alarm problem to me. If it was just a case of it loosing power, you could expect the siren to go mad as it has a backup supply.

Have you kept the battery charged while the car has been in the garage?

Coming out in sympathy with my car eh!
The immobiliser has gone on mine and won't power up the fuel puymp of starter. Called out a Meta dealer as there is nothing obvious and everything is sealed. The units and there is a M99T control unit that controls the siren , sensors and locking and a M36T immobiliser are all behind the dashboard which has to come out to get access.

yes - I've kept the battery charged up !

I can start the car OK but I just cannot lock it
with the plipper.

Sounds like a difficult choice of finding a local
meta dealer (like you suggest Steve) or taking it to
a TVR dealer (who will probably do the same )..

there is q meta place a few miles south of wherever Hawthorns and Station Hill garage is. They sorted mine out when it was being serviced by Station Hill. can't remember the town ... somewhere near gatwick. I guess thats not toooo far if you're in East Sussex...

no, no beeps , indicator flashes.. nothing except the
flashing light on the steering colunm (where the plastic key fits..)

ATG - could you find the name and number of that Meta
place... as it sounds pretty local - I moved to near Redhill and did not change my profile...

Thanks

Unfortunately I haven't got a number for the Meta service place, but the people at Station Hill should be able to pass it on to you. Link below gives a contact number and location:

Thanks Steven - that did the trick.

I disconnected the positive lead from the Battery for a few seconds - noticed the alarm light was flashing very faintly (probably the battery backup in the alarm) then re-connected. Hey presto - alarm goes off
to signify tampering...

I've never been so happy to have it false alarm !

Thanks to everyone who commented - it's always nice to solve something for free !
