I presume that is some kind of 250GTO (not well up on old 'rraris) which would be a modified version of the standard road going 250?

Yes. A 250 GTO developed by Ferrari themselves in joint venture with Bizzarrini and Scagliette.

The only thing that 250GTO is missing is some little blue LED's on the washer jets. IMHO of course ok maybe a large bore exhaust as well or even a picnic table spoiler on the back, now that would be cool

So in effect it is a modified version of the standard 250 and hence a blasphemous tampering of a monster with sixties styling?

Whether the factory or the owner modifies the car is a distinction lost on me.

I guess that this is worth a thread of its own, but in my opinion it makes all the difference if the modification is performed by the manufacturer or by just any customer. Different schools, different approach. No "truth" saying what's correct I guess. Then we would not have the wonderful world of Hotrods

I would not paint flames on my Griff though...
