Right gents, lets try and get this going as we are, I doubt the discount will be anywhere near as favourable but lets see.

You need to fill in the below list. Please copy the format carefully.

Speedy cables cant replicate the speedo needle, so you may need to supply your old one or find a spare from somewhere. (spare tacho???)

Also, let me know if you want speedy to supply a sender or you are going to sort one out yourself. Demon Tweeks sell them for example.

If you require the mileage to be copied from your car, Speedy will require something like a copy of your last MOT.

I have an issue about mileage!!!! as my griff's had 2 new speedo's upto now in its life, the second was combined to the first to show true mileage, the current one is now showing 2059 miles, but the total is 64,000 miles......(approx)

I would really prefer the total miles ????????

Just a thought re the needle - how close can they get?
If they supplied 2 needles so you also changed the one in your tacho would you notice?

I'm on the fence at the moment - I'm V8S but I'm not sure how much pain it would be to setup a new speedo drive - can it run from the gearbox sender or am I totally missing the point?

Pretty sure they cant supply exact needles.

Kinda missing the point Barky, the point is to get away from the rare and expensive LT77 sender.
Looking at what you have done re:test bed, you will not have a problem mounting an inductive proxy sensor somewhere near the diff/halfshafts.

Have you got the spec of the cal diodes fitted to the SW's?

No not exactly - but it works on a binary arrangement factoring the frequency required up or down.
I've tried to get some info out of Stewart Warner in the US - I've exhanged a few emails but they aren't really interested.

If you want to cure your insomnia have a read of these - the original Stewart Warner Patents - the linked PDF's contain some electronic diagrams.
They don't relate exactly but are kind of close.

I've been farting about with an old S Stewart Warner speedo over the last couple of weeks but haven't really got anywhere. I think as you already know the circuit design is not that great. And just to make life a but more interesting there's loads of cut tracks on the circuit board and wires soldered about the place - maybe it was a TVR bodge to make it work.

As an aside I presume the speedo will support 6 cylinders?

I just thought it might be worth a post on the S forum as they have a Stewart Warner speedo. I guess wedges may also have them?
The ford 6 cylinder speedo sender is also quite hard to get hold of.

Interesting if they are being a pain regarding mileage - as the nature of this means your existing mileage will be bow-lacks anyway.

The speedy alternative should care not how many cylinders you have.
It should just take into account revs per mile and how many pulses it will get before or after the diff i.e bolt heads.

Hi
I may be interested as I'm in the process of fitting an MT75 box to my S2

The chap who built the box has kindly fitted both electronic and cable outputs, however, I have fitted a 4.27 LSD and so the speedo would be well out - I had been thinking of a vinyl over print with the mph marking (after making a buck using a gps)

UPDATE !!!!!!

Just spoke to Speedy cables again.

They have agreed to do these gauges at -30% for between 5 and 10 of us.

We each need to provide a letter stating the mileage of the vehicle so they can copy the mileage to the new gauge.

I am told the speedo will actually run from the existing LT77 speedo sender, but they would need the old gauge to work out the cal.

They will sell us the inductive type sensor to go with the gauge for 39.55 also -30%.

If you are still running Lucas fuel injection, remember you will need to leave your LT77 sender in place for the ECU signal!!!!

I have 3 SW needles (need one myself) if some dont have a speedo to send and give the needle up.

SO WHO IS UP FOR IT?????

Ant.... I'll go for it regardless, as the needles moving opposite to each other is a serious mind fk,... and if I can bag one of your needles be happy to make a contribution towards your new guage smile

Surprised there's so few takers - £126 +VAT (£148 inc) is a bit of a steal.
Were I keeping mine I'd definitely have one if only just to keep as a spare. Breakers charge more for 'em.

The sender will be an sensor that needs to see a pulse, i.e propshaft bolts or drive shaft bolts....
