Stunning!

They should do one explaining the route they are taking to register it (if it's going back on the road), that would be helpful for people, if it's just going to be a track day toy I'm sure it will be fun.
I think you could be onto something there, IVA / SVA approvals process. That could be the job Nick is dreading.mk1coopers said:

The air-con and attention to creature comforts, panelling and carpets doesn't suggest a track day toy to mesmn159 said:

Doesn't suggest it to me either, though sometimes with these projects it's about doing things because you want to, not because you need to, I hope it is going back on the road and that showing it going through IVA (or which ever route) gives some pointers to people that are put off doing projects of their own because of the way the system currently works, we could then see some more interesting (and legal) cars out there rather than lines of factory spec cars (which do have their place). They have been very proactive in keeping the transporter truck on its real plates, which gives me real hope in seeing Binky on the road one day!
I think an earlier video discussed this, with how many parts of the original car needed to remain to keep the original number plate. I will just have to go back to video one and start watching them all again, such hardships!

The trouble is as soon as you have cut the monocouque you loose 5 points (for keeping the I.D / registration), trying to get to 8 points to retain the original identity is then practically impossible, so the best way is to build it to IVA spec and re-register, (as mentioned above) on the flip side of this you can throw away the body of a car with a separate chassis as the identity is attached to it, as long as you don't cut the original chassis you can then rebody it and retain the I.D.
Or you can do what lots of people do and not declare what you have done, with a project like this I don't think that's an option.
When people are skilled at what they do (as these guys are) I think it's a real shame that they can't qualify for some sort of official certification that would allow vehicles like this (and subsequent builds) to be self certified by themselves on an ongoing basis, it would allow some return to the past where all sorts of variants were available built or to be built, the Mini and its mechanicals was a brilliant source for this type of vehicle
