Surely this is a water trap, the heat-shrink needed to be of the adhesive type to prevent water running down the cables into the sensor termination point
Depends how its mounted, if the plug points down then its not a problem so much.
Yep, even with adhesive type heat shrink it is still possible for water to seep down. Good engineering practice is to point all wiring downwards.

Is that picture of it in the car? Looks like it's in a vice or something.

Agreed, cables with a loop going up to plugs, perhaps it can't be mounted in any other position

To be fair if there is water in that part of the engine bay enough to seep into the wires they are having other problems too that just might be bigger.

An update today:

December 2020 Update:

Everything sucks. We might have been able to finish episode 33 before Christmas if we'd have been happy to end the video in a haphazard and frankly slapdash way and we decided we weren't prepared to do that. Being screwed over by a supplier, and the government with their ever changing restrictions and Nik's pursuit of his ultimate goal has meant progress hasn't been as swift as we'd hoped.

There is a Howie Did It video coming up later next week which will detail one of the jobs we weren't looking forward to but has ended up being pretty damn cool. We'll be back in the new year with the paint reveal. It is painted. The paint job isn't finished as you'll see in the video, but if the effort being put into it pays off, it should be pretty special.

Cheers

It looked like red paint at the very end of video...is that a colour teaser or "red" herring?

Pink I think, harking back about a decade to Richard's girls choosing the colour.

I'm sure it's a possibility if they get enough interest.

I won't be trying to adapt this though laugh

I wouldn't put it past them for that to have the colour photoshopped to hide the real colour smile
