Hi all i sold my old 2008 JCW to get a 2018 Clubman S.

Various reasons but mostly needed more room in second car and wife didnt drive manual which the JCW was.

Had the car since Mar and found it ok at first but its no lt growing on me. The car feels not that slow when it spools up (not quick but not slow) but the problem i find is the response.

With sport mode its a big difference but still quite laggy. Is this some problem with the modern turbos Mini use? Most turbos have become more responsive but this car feels more laggy than the 10yo car it replaces. Or is it just the new ones particular a Clubsport are so much heavier than the older cars?

My 2017 manual Mini Cooper S doesn't suffer from any lag, could it be the combination of a dim witted auto and the turbo engine. I recall my old Audi TTS feeling really laggy most of the time because it was mated to an auto(dct) gearbox.

Yes def could be the auto actually it does feel a bit better when manually in a gear and its not even a dct in this one. My pdk car though is far better so its not that all autos are sluggish but this one does suffer.

I dont drive my Cooper S in anything other than Sport mode. You can use the Bimmercode app to default to Sport rather than have to change it all the time.

I suspect the auto box and weight of the car arent helping.

I'd stick a Racechips GTS tuning box on it which will take it to 246BHP. Should make up for both wink

That's just a plug in tuning box. 10 minutes to fit 10 minutes to remove. Might be ideal for a short duration lease?
