A friend of mine sold Stuart & Arden Sprints back in the day smile
Interesting - do you know which S&A dealership he worked at...? I think all of the Sprints they sold (about fifty is most people's best guess) were done at London dealerships.

What’s going on with these two? Are the moulded flared arches just blended grp, steel or are they a non UK shell like a Mini cord.

Edited by Cledus Snow on Wednesday 21st August 17:57
Sorry, missed your post completely - they're both proper Mini shells but the arches are made from blended in metal, it was very common in the late '60s and '70s but often bodged at home rather than done professionally. Some of them used these over the counter arches from Cosmic and blended them in to the bodywork...

Thanks Colin - but I was hoping someone else might post some stuff too (so I can nick a few ideas biggrin), there must be a few PH'ers out there who've modified their Minis at some point, I'd love to see some of them wink

Brilliant images, what a lovely selection.

I just got a 1970 saloon for my 50th birthday, 31 years after I sold my last one!
Thanks. Sounds interesting... a late Mk2 or an early Mk3...? Standard / modified / customised...? Nice way to treat yourself anyway, would love to see some photos of it wink

Spotted this nicely backdated '80s Mini at Stanford Hall last September, always a good local show this one....

Some lovely stuff there.

What kind of witchery is going on with the one with the Webbers (or Dellortoes or whatever) at the front of the head?

I assume it was / is as simple as reversing the flow and using a re-profiled cam?
Thanks Colin - it never occurred to me to ask about those carbs on the front, I've seen that car a few times and never thought about it! I do know it started out as a 1970 Mk3 850 though.

This morning I picked up another Mini which I'm planning to customise once I've given it a thorough going over, it's a cherry red Mini 30 which has already had a replacement engine and 'box and a complete new front end etc. I drove it home in the wet and I'd forgotten how twitchy they can be on 12'' tyres, I'll be changing the set up to 10'' wheels asap for starters.
