I bought LGR555G in 1987
Set about restoring the car, used it for around four years.
I sold the car to a chap on New Year’s Day 1991
He took the car back to Stoke I think, his surname was Steele.
I believe the car at some point ended up at John Surtees garage for sale again.
A few years later I received a call from a chap who had the car, I believe he had mini machine re shell the car to huge expense and no corner cut.
Last I heard from the late John Kelly was that this chap had committed suicide, from then on we couldn’t find where the car went, DVLA records suggest that the car had been exported.

I'd be worried about putting a loved one in a car which crashes like this

Hi all,

so... the question... is it a bad idea?
Yes.

I repaired many in the 80s. They needed a lot of spannering when they were newish. Now they aren't new you'll need to have a really good one and stay on top of it.

But the reason why I wouldn't let one of my family run one is that they were not massively safe when everything else on the road was quite small and slow. Today? They look tiny and they have little protection.

My best friend at Uni was killed in one. Not a collision, but I think he may have survived in a bigger car.

So, bad idea IMHO.
