The links that xxplod have mentioned are a great place to start One of my club members swears by Wood and Picket and many members have found/sold their cars on e-bay.. Always a good move if you're a trustworthy person and don't mind travelling a bit!

My mate has a very good 1960 shell, I mean damn good, it's an ex-race car so is not beautiful, the paint is shabby and it's been in a repair garage for 35 years. He also has lots of bits, including 2 MG Metro engines. If you got that car, you could get it painted and running a hairy engine for your budget. Mk1's are the way to go.

He has to get out of his industrial unit in a matter of weeks and has loads of lovely stuff to get rid of. I imagine he'll ebay it but a good offer on the mini might get it.

It was his idea to fit something like a KAD 16v to it and have the most solid, most shabby fastest mini ever! It looks horrible but has no rust at all. The original one piece floor. Nice.

I'm really interested! is your mate still selling this?

I also have a J reg cooper that I'm considering selling as I don't have the space at my house to keep it, was going to use it as a trackday tool but looking like I'm not going to be able to keep it.

Spec:

1380 MED built engine which the mate I bought it from built for drag racing, shade under 130bhp, 14 sec quarters.
Straight cut box.
Strengthened clutch
Stripped out completely with carbon fibre front end and weighs in at about 500kg.
Cooper S front brakes and super minifin rears.
Brand new 10x6 Starmags with fresh tyres.

Loads of other bits done to it, drop me an email if you're interested.

If you're after an original MK1 to start with you could do a lot worse than the one that I listed in the classified section of this very site

I've just heard of a really genuine low-mileage Mini which could be for sale.
It's a 1996 ('N') Mini Sprite 1275 with a genuine 11,000, yes 11,000, miles from new. It's finished in silver and is completely unmarked. The only non-standard items are 12" Minilite wheels from a late-model Cooper and these have been re-finished and lacquered plus 165/60x12 Falken tyres (almost new).
The present owners are off to live in France and mentioned to me that they will be selling the car shortly and asked me what it's worth. I reckon it's definately worth £2700 as the car is absoloutely rust-free and just a new bare body-shell would cost that in high-quality silver finish.
Email me if interested and I'll pass the enquiry on to the owner.

Hi, I was going to email you but I can't since I'm a newbie. I think I may have exactly the mini your after.

Its a 1989 British Racing Green. I bought it from Bill Richards highly modified to an exceptional standard. It's currently sitting on 10" Minilites, under group 2 arches, with over riders and corner bars, B&W plates (I know..).

There's a full SD bolt in cage, a custom built dash from Bill Richards which perfectly suits the car, immaculate original BRG interior.

Suspension is fully adjustable, with Spax lowered (40mm I believe) dampers, Hi-los and KAD 4 pots.

The car (non original engine, but I'll get on to that in a second) has done 25,000 genuine miles and is tip top condition, bar a couple of minor things. These being, the laquer on the front arches has come off, the chrome over riders and GB badge on the back have gone rusty and there are a couple of patches of flaky paint in the engine bay. All these points will be getting sorted out and the car will be sold as perfect!

Now, the engine currently in it is a Stage 1 998. However, I took out and am currently selling a 1425 Bill Richards race engine. Nitrided and cross-drilled crank, 73.5mm FORGED Omega pistons, Cooper S con-rods, Duplex timing gear, Cosworth constant ignition pack (very expensive and no longer available from Cosworth), full race head, ported for a 45 DCOE webber (but ran on my HI44 for several months perfectly fine), 36/31 Rimflow valves, Iske double springs, Cooper S forged rockers.

I say I am currently selling the engine seperately, and my intention was to sell the car in a few weeks after I have sorted out those few things, but I would love to be able to sell this car complete as I bought it, so if your interested please contact me.
