Thanks for the help guys, I had a good look at it yesterday.

It is a UK car, with an twin point engine and A/C. There's almost no rust (just a touch on the rear of one wing), but that's probably due to a few bodywork repairs that have been done. The mileage appears genuine and the history is complete.

It was leagues ahead of the two other minis I've driven, both in pace and feel, so all in all I'm very positive. And as a bonus Claire used to work with the guy who last owned it

Unfortunately Claire is less than convinced about it, mainly on grounds of "practicality". Some of that is due to being 6ft tall and having to sit in the car with her knees by her ears To be fair though she's more convinced now than she was prior to a test drive.

And the guy is asking £6k. I'm countering her argument that there are a great many cars she'd rather have for that (or even £5k) by pointing out depreciation and running costs will be lower with a mini.

So, watch this space

Practicality is not an issue - I'm 6'3" and 17 stone, and get in and out of mine no problems.

Plotloss got the whole family + buggy in his without too much difficulty.

And I'm pretty sure no JCW has ever made anything like 90 bhp More like about 78-82 judging by all the rolling road figures I've ever seen. Not that it matters really, they're cracking little cars even with just 48 bhp
