How easy is this to sort or is it a rack out job like my elise?

The missus car failed its MOT on this and a few other little bits so I have'nt seen it yet to look but I thought I'd try and catch you all before you got too drunk

Also any ideas where I'll get one tommorow?

It's very easy.
Take off the road wheel. Undo and remove the track rod end, noting how many turns to remove it so that you can get the correct tracking when re-fitting.
Cut the gaiter clips with side cutters and pull the old gaiter off. Thoroughly clean the steering shaft coming out of the rack - you don't want to introduce any dirt or grit into the rack when re-assembling.
I normally jack the car as high as I can on that side and pump some oil into the rack. It's supposed to be EP80 or EP90 gear oil, but you can use a bit of 20/50 just to top-up. Also pump a bit of oil into the gaiter just before fitting it over the rack end.
Slide the new gaiter on and fit the clips. You can use plastic tie-wraps instead of the metal clips of old.
Re-fit the tie rod into its original position and bolt it back onto the steering arm. Re-fit the road wheel and Robert is your avuncular relative!
It may be worth getting a re-track soon after.
You should be able to get a gaiter from a local motor factor or Rover dealer.
I hope this helps.

Cheers Cooperman!

Looks like tommorow morning will be a unatic jaunt to the local rover dealer and then fit it all before I leave for the weekend at 12!
