)Cooper S. Used for Sprints and Hillclimbs, although been lying unused in the garage for a few years. I was lucky enough to get sponsorship from MED, and used (still in car) what became their development engine at the time. It is an all steel 1310 with the very best of everything including a one off cam and head done by an old chap who used to do all the head work on the British Vita race Minis in the 60's and 70's. The head alone took around 60 hours of work. At the time (late 80's) it was reckoned to be the most powerful 5 port, naturally aspirated non big bore engine ever done.
On a rolling road, which is widely regarded to be conservative it produced 123 bhp. The operator, who tunes Minis for Autocross, was staggered as he had for years been vying with MED over power figures but this was well ahead of any of his. From what I can gather it would still be competitive. I really must rekindle the old thing and use it again !!

Minimax just seen your mini in your profile. I must have seen that car just before you bought it! Considered that very car as my first - later my mum decided they werent safe enough (despite me insisting I would put a cage in). But yeah, love it!! I will own a mini someday, might be track only though...
...then again, having seen your westy at Pistonfest (it was me in the Smart) that might be a better option. Still can't deny the Mini charm though.
