Hi there

Can anyone help me on this forum ? I have just replaced an old tvr engine with a later version in my 1989 TVR 350i, however the later version has a different front timing cover which I have discovered is the Range Rover type, this means that my alternator / power steering mounts do not match up.

Can anyone email me some pictures of the front end of the V8 showing how belts and alternator / p/s are mounted and if any one has any spare mountings available could they also let me know

By the way engine is circa 1992, so just before the serpintine front end I imagine.

Also having just replaced the injection system does anyone have any details on how one sets up a system from scratch including timing, butterfly adj, idle screw (on plenum ?) air screw (on afm) etc and any thing else that may help me to get the motor to idle below 3000 rpm.

Is there a visual check I can do to see if the cams are in the right position in relation to the TDC for initial timing ?

Sorry so many questions but proving a bit of a nightmare getting the beast to run smoothly again
Cheers

Pics are of a 92 3.9 rangie. There ia a double cranck pully one belt from this goes to the water pump with a double pully, which then goes to the air con pump on the drivers side. The other crank pully goes to the pas pump, wich is just bellow the dizzy, this has a double pully which goes to the alternator on the passanger side

To accuratly check the cam timing you have to remove the timming cover and check the dots on the two gears line up with each other, to check the cam timing in order to set up the timing remove the N/S rocker cover, rotate the engine buy hand untill wou see the No1 inlet valve move when this has shut and the timing mark ia at TDC the rotor arm should be pointing some where near the terminal with the lead to No1 cylender, this should get the engine running so you can sort it with a timing light. i will send you some info which may help with the injection issues.
