A bit of a downgrade in terms of size and power from my old RRS. Happy so far but I might need to get some smaller wheels for dirt tracks.

With the 500 if I needed to nip out I'd tend to wait until husband was home and let him drive me because I couldn't be bothered driving myself. Now I find any excuse to go somewhere biggrin

We've just come back from the Lakes in it. Loved every moment. Husband had a Jeep Renegade a few years back and it rattled and bumped from the day we collected it. Build quality was truly awful and to be honest if it wasn't for the fact it was a 24 month lease I'd have created merry hell over it. A ten year old Freely and it's silent, no squeaks, no rattles. It's a dream to drive.

I am making a few changes though, going to spray the alloys black along with the side vents, maybe the spoiler for the rear. Currently looking at the front fog replacements that give you DRL's.

Yep, spent more time adding to my Christmas list on that site than I'd like to admit....

Would anyone like a free plain roof panel for an 88? Fair condition, close to junction 6 M40.

That looks ace bud!

I love a series with a proper safari roof.

I wish I had never sold my old S11A with a rover V8 in it, that I bought as a bargain non runner for £500, that was over 25 years ago now though.

Back then we never realised how much they would later be worth, it even had the fairey overdrive and the fairey front free wheeling hubs too.

So I hope you continue to enjoy yours and never sell it as well.

Cheers! My one has a Fairey Overdrive, freewheel hubs, and a Weber carb, so it can even go at 60 mph, well, maybe.

I grew up almost next door to the Land Rover factory and am fond of the heaps. This one is my fourth Series 3 and the best of the four. I plan to keep it.

Lovely! Have just bought a series 3 (pic a few pages back) so am fairly new to them, what is the slight step-up on your roof for? It looks like a vent but is it for anything more specific?

That's an external sun visor, positioned in front of a Safari roof (double layer, air flow in between the layers). This Landy is configured for tropical use. It has an uprated radiator. It was due to go to the Caribbean, but stayed in Blighty instead.

Safari roofs work quite well as aids to cabin cooling. This one has four vents on top. It came with the Alpine window panels. I think that this Landy was a van when it left Lode Lane. Now it is a Station Wagon. It seems to have had a fairly easy life. It has a thread in Readers' Cars, which features some fine Series Landy porn.

Thanks, I like the look. I've also got a sunvisor too but hadnlt seen the safari roof before. Nice option.

Look on eBay - Safari roofs tend to go for several hundred quid, but I got lucky and bagged mine for under a hundred. Changing the roof takes a short time unless all the bolts are seized up.

The top panel of the roof is not strong, so don't put loads on it. You can fit a roof rack that sits above the roof, and doesn't touch the top panel.

Absolutely love it. A 109 station wagon with expedition equipment is my all time favourite style of Landy. Can just imagine roaming the savannah in that thumbup
