Our defender needs an MOT so we had to move quick to get it ready before the second lockdown.

It’s a long story but we had the original seats out and they needed to go back in.

So as with all Land Rover jobs, it turned I to something bigger, I had Known the under seat boxes were a bit dirty ( understatement! ) for some time, but thought I would give them a clean before refitting the seats.

Here’s what it looked like.

And here it is after a little TLC!

It’s always surprising how gratifying in can be to do a simple bit of cleaning!

Good work ! Mine was like that everywhere when I got it. I know we are only going to get them dirty again, but it's nice to give them a spruce up every so often.

Did my first bit of green laning at the weekend. Under the expert guidance of Surrey 4x4 who organise small groups and arrange routes. Lovely guys and really worth doing if you’re near Surrey.

Is that the lane with the big step at the top? There are loads of lovely lanes in that area

Bit of a gathering of 2.8i owners today organised by Pat at LRM. Six in total including three SA 50ths including mine plus a UK V8 one owned by Paul who hosted us too!
I would love one of those to go with the V8, however I think there’s quite a few people watching the market as well.

My Land Rover last year, scrumping for straw. A trailer shed a bale on a sweeping bend so I swooped and nicked a load for my strawberries.

I can put you in touch with a really good guy in SA if you’re not frightened of importing one? He’s a mate of Pat’s and I’ve imported my 110 with him (and another mate a 90)

If you’re looking for a 50th rather than a regular 2.8i then they are bloody rare though, only 26 in total I think!

Cheers bud!

Yes I think ours was pretty dirty from the previous owner too, and despite having to replace the under seat fuse box and a fuel pump really, we never managed to make the time to clean it.

Also some time back we happened to notice that one of the large rubber grommets was missing, so with a 30mm hole in the seat box bottom, it was not surprising a load of mud and water got in there!

I remember days spent trying to get all the mud and straw out of every cranny of my first ex farm truck Series Landy. I gave up! My current one appears to have had an easier lifer and is not too claggy.

Yes claggy, that’s the perfect word to describe what ours was like too when we got it.

Of course spending days in mud and water on our off road course doesn’t help either, but as that’s been shut due to Covid and other reasons that’s not happend at all this year sadly!

Still it’s always a good lock down project to kill may hours on!

But judging be the frost this morning it might be bit nippy for working on the drive on it during Lockdown 2.0!

I really do like those, and that looks like a beautiful example. I love my old Defender dearly, but a D4 does seem to tick the boxes for every car you'd ever need...

Dolly, my 1960 Series 2, still 2 1/4 petrol but ACR Power+ with Zeus disc brake conversion up front, 8" remote servo and currently fitting Heystee power steering to compensate for old age and big tyres!

You might want to look into the p38 PAS conversion. Arguably a much better solution and a lot cheaper than the Heystee.
