The Classic broke down on the way from buying it in Perth, the Disco 2 dropped a liner 3 weeks after buying it and now has a V8 Developments 4.6 in and the disco 5 we had for a whole month before it went wrong and is presently having a new engine fitted by land Rover

And yet i keep buying them rolleyes
It's a bit unfair to pick out the Land Rovers. How many of your fleet has ever been working at the same time? winkwavey

Yep, that's the familiar three year story for us - Dear Mr Land Rover Dealer, that car of ours that's always had some niggling issue or other? Could we have another one please?

I must get on to Land Rover about my gearbox, it's been making this worrying whirring noise in neutral. It's definitely got worse these last 30 years.

3.0 SDV6? I'm guessing crank issues or related?

Ingenium 4 pot , first diagnosed as the famous time chain problem, they changed that , apparently test drove it, gave me the car back and i got a mile up the road before it shat itself.

Since getting mine back last summer from an expensive concours resto, the issue I'm having is not wanting to wilfully get it messy due to the level of cleaning it will then require to return it to a fitting condition.
If I'm out at an event or show and it rains on the way, fair enough - it's not a garage queen that'll spend 6 months a year on sorn - but equally I'm not going to pop out in it just for fun on filthy winter roads.

(I'm aware this attitude to a Land Rover may require me to don a flame suit)

Living here in the remote countryside, it's been 5 weeks since the last coincidence of me having free time on a weekend and the roads being acceptably free of liquid mud/leaves for a quick trundle to the shops.

It was worth the wait though driving

That is a beauty Chemical Chaos, nice to see a 70s resto rather than yet another Bronze Green softop. I don't blame you for wanting to keep it clean, years of road salt have made my Series IIA a bit manky underneath, plus I'm still finding orangey clay residues from a waterlogged site I worked on in 2007.

CC this is not a flaming...I reckon it is better if things get used a bit..my 2a was restored to within an inch of concourse...but my philosophy was bringing it back to new then using it...as a result a nice ‘used’ slightly patinated look.. whilst keeping the systems oil, water and electrical all going...
where did the pic go?
weird wasn't showing on iPad, does on PC

This is fantastic, since BreadVan turned me onto Safari roofs I need one and this doesn't help!
Can't say I get the need to keep a Landie (or most cars for that matter) dry but its yours and you do what you want with it and and enjoy, its lovely! clap

I originally didn't want to get the vehicle painted during the restoration, to maintain patina and help increase the usability without fear afterwards.
Unfortunately as more panels were found to be rotten or subject to a bodged previous accident repair it became inevitable to repaint, and to therefore go for concours.
I am pleased with how it turned out - but having gone to the extra cost and effort of that finish I feel it would be a waste to not preserve it as long as possible, plus of course the extra value it currently adds to the car if I should ever need to sell.

That looks lovely and you don't see many Series in that colour.

Also liking the period spot lamps. I have been thinking about some of those for mine if I ever see any. I'd like them to be LED behind the covers though smile

Have you lost some bolts in the rear hub?
