john, don't get me wrong I have been a Land Rover fan since I was a kid. I have had many of them over the years.

but since Gerry Mcgovern discovered the house hold 'jelly mould' it has been hard to tell them apart., sorry

here is a chart that may help others.

I bought another last week. As standard as I could find, I’ve since put OE Continental tyres on that were ‘new-take-offs’ from a 2015.

But added a drawer for shooting kit.

I wanted a full length drawer as I have the shotgun foam inserts, but the drawers are best part of a grand, so I took this drawer out of my v8 90.

Here’s the longer drawer I had in a past 110.

Passed its MoT with zero advisories today, after a full ground-up rebuild on a galv chassis.

Lovely restoration that is.

Passed with no leaks? The wonders of fresh seals that keep fluids where they are supposed to.. hehe

My Disco 3 restoration is slowly gathering pace.
I’ve got a few parts that are required and I’ve spoken to Engine 710 about taking on the parts I can’t do.

Come spring time it should start and then all going well it shall be back on the road for spring 2023.

The chassis was completely rotten and the previous owner uncovered it and did not want to deal with it. Restoration started as just a chassis swap, but as I got into it I decided to do a lot of ‘whilst I was in there jobs’

Body lifted off on my 2 poster

Lifted engine/ boxes out and put them on the floor

Remove all the components from the chassis, saved the axles, tank and some small bits and binned everything else.

Ordered a galvanised chassis

Stripped the axles down to their components parts

Cleaned everything with a wire brush on a grinder

Painted axles, diffs, props etc with marine grade paint

Rebuilt axles with new seals and bearings plus new discs

Fitted to new chassis

Cleaned and painted the trailing/ radius arms, fitted new bushes and fitted to chassis

Did complete new springs/ shocks, bump stops, calipers and lines etc

Painted and fitted the tank

Refitted the engine/ boxes

Changed the timing belt, water pump etc

Whilst all that was happening I’d built a custom frame out of old box section for the body to go on a trailer to the paint shop.

That’s been raptor painted underneath and resprayed in original coniston green with white roof. The spray job isn’t the best but it look ok to my eyes.

Refitted the body back to the chassis. Changed all the door bolts for stainless and took it for the MoT. biggrin

Not quite no leaks. The engine/ boxes are pretty much as they were. But I’m good friends with the tester and it was MoT’d on a wet day, he’s a Landy nutter too and so he understands they all leak. When I drop the oil in spring I’ll be doing a sump gasket for sure. hehe

Nice to hear someone’s restoring a D3, I think they’re the unloved bottom of their market at the moment. I daily a D4 and it’s got under my skin to the point where I’ve started to wonder if I’ll ever be able to be as objective about it as I always have my dailies when the time comes.

Finally bought an L322 range rover after lusting after one for years. It appears to have been very well looked after plus low miles for age and full main dealer service history. No jobs to do on it so I'll just enjoy driving!

And that’s my problem.
Too attached to the D3 to let it go.
Far too sentimental and it’s going to cost me a small fortune to go with the existing fortune it’s cost me over the last 9 years. hehe

But yes, they are at the bottom of the curve and many are being broken up etc so this early HSE model is going to get restored and I’ll make it the car I’ve always wanted it to be.

Then it will stay and I’ll make sure to not take it back to the garage that ruined it ever again.

Looks great eltax91.

Same colour and type of wheels as mine, Steel wheels, and Wolfs in particular, with more regular-sized tyres seem to be all the rage at the moment, Also seeing fewer aftermarket grills around. Perhaps keeping it standard is the thing now.

Here's mine in -18:

I’m intrigued, this appears to be a pre-heated windscreen Defender yet there is neither ice on the outside nor the inside of the windscreen

How is this possible?
