I find parking easier than in most of my old "big" cars (7 series, E class coupe, 6 series GC) due to being higher up in the car. Then again, I'm also used to parking a LWB high top Transit in central London from time to time biggrin

Yeah the more upright the corners the easier it is to position...that is true. Wide track/arches is a different story.

Serious question, doesn’t the sheer size of these things become tiresome as a daily? I have a CLS Shooting Brake (AMG so wide body) and it’s bearable but I yearn for something smaller and find parking spaces and multi storeys are sometimes a challenge.
That's what puts me off at the moment.

The Lister hospital in Stevenage where I have to take my parents now and again has the tightest multi storey car park I have ever seen in my life. How people get range rovers up there is a mystery!

And I drive a Vauxhall Movano for the day job. smile

I’ve got. FFRR and some of the old multi storey car parks are tricky. They were built when cars were smaller.

My previous car was an E Class. The RR is the same length and a few cm wider but vastly easier to manoeuvre and park.

Still here.

glad to see those with MY18 cars aren't suffering major issues, although I'm not at all surprised there are still issues found.

I've been using our MY18 car since we had it back from the dealer March time quite a lot. Screens are still tempermental, cruise control sometimes doesn't activiate, and the most annoying 'new' electrical gremlin is the car sometimes refuses to lock! It chirps the alarm to signal a door is still open but everything is closed tight. Soft close doors also not working everytime. I've decided the Meridian Signature 1700watt system is good, but not worth nearly £5k.

And still, when it all works, when its gleaming, there is literally no other car i'd rather be in on a daily basis. It looks and drives absolutely first class.

As mentioned previously, LR are replacing this car with an identical spec new one given the faults we've had. The replacement car should have been here by this weekend but I'm awaiting a call back from a few minutes ago to confirm this - I'm no real rush at the moment as the current car is still doing the job fine.

Staying positive, but I just hope these software issues are ironed out on this car otherwise its going back and I'm off with my money elsewhere!

And your car will be sold with a made up back story to some unsuspected buyer.

Great customer service, a breath of fresh air compared to usual dealership

Sourced my D5 in December
Agreed. By far the most competitive pricing with £2,800k off a 2018 RRS and 4.9% APR vs zero off and 6.9% APR from my local dealer. They also throw in your first years road tax, offer free optional home delivery/collect in store and deliver the vehicle with fuel.

I drove the D5 and the RRS this morning. The D5 was very underwhelming and I can't justify the switch from my '12 D4 HSE with 72k miles to a £70k car that didn't inspire. The RRS Autobiography was fantastic and that's the one I'd buy.

Not at all, it's incredibly easy to park (especially with the great reversing camera). It's essentially a box, so pretty easy to judge

Very odd indeed.

Hopefully your new car will be spot on mate.

Had mine perhaps a month now, touchwood no issues whatsoever.

Totally agree - there is nothing (at any budget) i'd rather be driving on a daily basis. They are brilliant.

still here...

a month later and still no sign of our replacement car. Bizarre new problems with the current car, DRLs refusing to illuminate on Auto lights setting, and the Meridian sound system acts like some sort of microphone lol. There is a speaker above the drivers head - every time I speak, my voice somehow get amplified through that speaker and comes through the rest of the car. If I flick the speaker with my finger it confirms the noise I'm making comes through all speakers - truly mad and I've never heard of any problem like that in my life.

Endless amount of calls over the last two weeks to the dealer and not once have the returned my calls - all I want is an update. Finally got though to them yesterday. Sales manager very sheepishly told me there's an issue with Land Rover UK buying back my car from the Cardiff Dealership, and claims he still needs time to fight this out with his HQ. Unfortunately I couldn't give a toss about this, this is not my fight and that is an internal issue to rectify. This was even the sales managers own words when we agreed on a new replacement car two months ago. He also informed me my shiny new car is actually sat at the dealership which pissed me off even more.

I'm waiting for an update from him by end of play today. if I don't get a call, or if I do and he's asking for more time to sort it - I will be absolutely having a refund on the full amount of the car. From here my options will be:

A) Take my money, place an order with another LR dealership for an identical car
B) Place an order with another LR dealership but change to an SVR (Little mileage done in the diesel makes me realise if I actually warrant having a diesel at all for shortish journeys)
C) Back to BMW, and buy a used approved X5m
D) Look at other options all together.

5 hours of the day left and I'm probably going to bet by Wednesday next week my car will be returned and I will be refunded. Forget the issues of the car - After everything since January their customer service is still literally non existent and even more infuriating.

Personally I would leave the dealer to sort out their internal issues and take my money elsewhere.

Yes I’ve heard this once or twice previously - making the dealer / manufacturer issues the customers problem - sorry as you know
Yourself that’s not how it flies .

What JLR and the dealer do or don’t do between themselves isn’t your concern.....your rejection is between you and the dealer.

Money back and walk seems to be the sensible path here.

I have heard a ton of JLR issues with my18 cars.

My my18 Svr is sitting at the dealer currently and when I go to collect it next week I won’t be signing anything until I ve gone through the car with a fine tooth comb . Quite happy to reject it and keep my my17, which has been fine aside from the odd infotainment issue .

Pushing a product to market that is quite so badly flawed is a JLR hallmark unfortunately.

I was speaking to the service manager of my local LR dealership during the week.

He asked me why I hadn't replaced my 2011MY Vogue. So I said I just couldn't face the hassle of preparing several snagging lists before I got a decent vehicle.

He assured me that the new Vogues no longer have quality issues.

I didn't believe him.

My friend with his new Disco had a similar possible dealer issue when his car was due to be swapped for a brand new one due to quality issues....the dealer inadvertently tried to bill him for the £12k cost to change - needless to say he politely returned the invoice. I suspect the dealer took part of "the bath" on the cost to change an they ended up advertising it about 6-8 weeks later, presumably after they fixed the list of repetitive faults as it was advertised with 500 more miles on (it took nearly 5 months to resell BTW).

It's why I would never buy a nearly new car from Land Rover.

In fact I desperately hope that between now and when I need to get rid of our Range that another manufacturer brings out a competitor product I like. I would really prefer not to spend any more money with Land Rover.

A poorly built unreliable expensive RR is still preferable to all other manufacturers out there? smile

The issue really here is the dealers aren’t able to fix the majority of problems with the my18 cars, it’s not a part out / part in job. It’s software based problems and that relies on JLR pushing updates out to dealers, and seems the updates aren’t doing the trick. That’s in Addition to the usual quality control problems with range rovers.

My missus has a velar but we popped into our local dealer as she spotted the new sport when was first released, we wanted a peek as my new one was still in factory build so it was first look for us both. She loved it and got into a conversation with a salesman and I tried to buy it on the proviso there weren’t the electronic issues id already heard about.

He simply said they were waiting for updates from JLR to fix the problems .

I know of 6-8 cars from the online community and a couple of friends who’ve ‘backed’ them to dealers for refunds or replacements.

Still not sure about the new rear lights though.

And before anyone says, yes the parking was poor lol

Late reply here, but i think the older light cluster is nicer. Front lighting is way better though - the early cars front fairy lights look very dated now

Thanks for the info chaps. I'm looking to trade my Vogue in soon so this is all good info.

On a separate note I'm considering a PCP this time. Are the interest rates likely to be the same if I buy a dealer ordered car as apposed to ordering one from the factory?
I got 4.8% apr from santander on pcp, was better than what LR were offering.

Clydesdale bank do a good HP with baloon at anywhere from 3.9-4.2% apr also...
